Has anyone found that their LO takes only a few sips of milk when it's not in a bottle? She'll happily glug her water and fruit smoothies from a straw cup but obviously associates her milk with a bottle. I know she gets calcium from other sources but would really like her to keep up with her great morning and night milk feeds. Any advice please (excl. leaving her on the bottle)? (Oh and we've tried numerous cups and she is a good eater so not worried she's not getting enough solids etc).

Both my two wouldn't drink milk out of anything but a bottle until they were 2.5. I think it's not a big deal if they are good eaters and only drinking 1 or 2 a day. I think it becomes a problem if they are still on 6 a day. edited by starsouthern on 28/04/2011

Thanks for your replies. They actually have helped as with being so isolated from family and close friends, you wonder how you hit these curveballs while you imagine everyone back home getting it all right. Just nice to know I'm not alone and that it's not always smooth sailing. Will just have to persevere. Thanks again x

DS is 17 months & until now he refuses milk from any cup. He drinks water from any cup but he gags once he tastes milk from a cup. He's not a good eater & he loves his milk. He only drinks water & milk.

Won't make you feel any better... but my eldest DS would only take his milk out of a bottle for such a long time. It wasn't until my second DS was old enough to get rid of the bottle that we switched them both to a straw cup and had a big throwing away of the bottle ceremony that he gave it up.
