Hello everyone!!

I am due on September 24th and I was wondering if anyone knew anywhere where me and my husband could attend first aid for babies. As you hear so many cases of babies suddenly not breathing etc. I would like to be up to date.
I would really appreciate anyones help. Thank you

We just did a course which was an Emergency First Response accredited course called 'Care for Children', specialising in the first emergency steps for infants and babies. It is designed for the situation in UAE where emergency services are not always that great, quick or responsive! I got a group of 6 of us mums-to-be at my house and Steve came round and did the course there. He brought 3 sized 'resuss Anne' dolls (baby, infant and adult) and other equipment and goes through all you need to know about treating things like choking, not breathing, anything life threatening, etc so I learnt all about CPR and basically what the first steps are. it took about 3-4 hours and you get to practise the techniques on the Resuss Annes. I sort of knew a few things before but now I feel confident that I could at least do my best until I get my DS to hospital. You also get a manual that has lots of useful info in it. I'm definitely glad I did it. Not sure if you're allowed to post websites on here (?) but it's www.scubasteve.ae and go to 'emergency training'. British guy who teaches it has been doing the course for years so felt confident that I'd get good training.

My hubby and I went to Synergy on Al Wasl Rd...they do a Pediatric First Aid class once a month on a Sat morning. Was about 250AED from memory. There are also classes at Healthbay but they were quite a bit pricier plus were during the week so that didn't work for DH. HTH
