Thanks for your replies ladies, I'm feeling much better now. I thought it would very strange to not be able to have a natural birth affect laser eye surgery given that so many people have it these days. Now to start reading up on Hypnobabies natural birthing!

I've had lasik and 2 babies naturally...there were no problems and I've never heard this mentioned before either. Good luck

I have had lasik six years ago and delivered two kids naturally since then, the first one was born less than a year after the surgery. Absolutely no troubles with my eyes because of that! And believe me I was pushing hard and long!!!:)

Whilst I am not pregnant and don't plan to be any time soon, I have had various eye surgeries (Lasik, Toric ICL implant and Retinal laser surger for retinal detachment) and this was one of my concerns for the future as I was told not to lift really heavy weights as you tend to hold your breath which puts pressure on the eye, particularly the back of the eye on the retina. So I figured something like a natural birth would put the same kind of pressure on the eye, but the Dr. confirmed with me that there are no increased risks as a result of having surgery such as Lasik. If you are unsure, go and visit and eye doctor somewhere like Moorfields or Gulf eye Centre so they can check your eye health and make any recommendations.

I had lasik eye surgery two years ago and am currently pregnant and someone told me yesterday that it's not recommended to have a natural birth after laser eye surgery due to the pushing involved and that it can affected the muscle in your eyes? Has anyone heard of this? At the time I had my eyes done the doctor never mentioned that to me.
