Thank you! The thing is I didnt have any side effects with metformin so I didnt really mind taking it. It really helped me lose weight and now I'm secretly contemplating of taking it again just to help me get rid of all the post pregnancy weight! lol To answer your first question, I would ask you to do the clomid cycle and let the doctor study your follicular phases before going in to IUI.

Have you gotten your insulin tested? I was on metformin on and off for about 3 years along with clomid cycles as well. Nothing successful. Got my insulin tested. It was still high even with all the metformin i was taking. The dr. prescribed another medication. Got my insulin tested the next month and Alhamdulilah it went to normal levels. A month later I got pregnant en route the natural normal way! Yes all fine with my insulin. Congratulations for the baby and congratulations for lasting 3 years on metformin I have been taking it for 3 months and I hate it!

I would think IUI is a better idea... As far as I know standard procedure is first Clomid (5 to 6 cycles) then IUI (up to the patient on how many cycles ... then the gold standard, IVF... I don't think that stimulating with injections (I assume that's what you mean with injections) then timing intercourse is a very scientific method? Yes they want to give me stimulating injections monitor me then send me off to DH when they think I am ready:-) I just don't want to have to go back and get all the injections again when it doesn't have a high success rate and just going straight for IUI.

I am looking for some advice please. I have been on Metformin which my doctor thought would have got me pregnant by Christmas. The next stage now that hasn't worked will be for injections in January with timed intercourse but I am wondering if I am going to have the injections to go straight for IUI as I know it will increase our chances? Hubby is OK but I have PCOS. All advice welcome ladies x
