Does anyone know if it's ok to take bottles of boiled water to makeup formula thru the airport in Dubai? And also those packets of ready made formula? I'm flying in a couple of weeks for the first time with my new baby. Thank you!

It was easy to leave Dubai but leaving Heathrow I had to open a carton of formula and drink some plus try some of the food sachets so take care when returning. Empty bottles and formula powder saves tasting - yuck. My DH had a good chuckle watching me!

I used to premeasure my formula into those dispensers and carry empty bottles and as soon as I got on board the plane just asked a flight attendant to fill with boiling water and then let it cool down. Will prob be doing the same this time around though as I'm having 2 not planning on flying with them while they are tiny :-) N

Had never any problems with taking bottles of water and baby milk powder with me, neither in the Middle East nor in Europe. If they see you have a baby with you, they tend to be very relaxed It is good to bring some extra though, as bottles tend to leak in the plane, and also if you are unlucky to poor the powder when the plane is shaking ... an accident happens quickly PS: Don't forget to take diapers and spare clothes (perhaps even for you). Our DS always manages to poop all over himself (and me) on the plane, and this otherwise never happens....

Dubai don't seem to care. I have taken a flask of hot water on with me and made the bottles up on the plane or I take the bottles with pre-measured water in and just add the formula when needed. If you are going to the UK beware because they are much stricter. You have to have the water measured out in the bottles already and they will make you taste some of them. If you use the ready made milk, they make you open some of them and then they only last for a couple of hours.

I have always just bought a bottle of mineral water after I get through security...Arwa has the lowest sodium content. Then add pre measured powder from one of those compartmentalised containers. I don't take the ready made formula because sometimes they make you taste it and it makes me gag!

Going through security here in Dubai is so easy and stress free in regards to baby formula and food. My first time I had the water measured out in all the bottles and formula in a formula dispenser. I never did this again, as throughout the flight when I needed a bottle the water had leaked, not a huge amount, but due to the pressure (or whatever) the water leaked. Since then I have always just taken the pre made cartons of formula. They are just so easy, no formula powder or water needed, just pour contents into the bottle when needed.
