Hi Ladies, I haven't yet done LO's 4 month vaccinations and she's now 5 months. We are travelling to Maldives on Thursday - does anyone now if she needs anything specific and whether I should rush to do them today/tomorrow before we leave or can I wait till I return to do the scheduled 4 month vaccinations?

Also I have a health card, where do I go near Dubai Marina for the vaccinations?

Thanks

Thanks Ladies .... Your advice was spot on. Just got hold of our paediatrician and he said to wait until we return and that LO is too young for any county specific vaccinations so all is good. Thanks again

I did my daughter's shots a few days before she turned 5 months. And now will be doing her 6 month shots just shy of 7 months. Don't think there are any issues. And as said below, ideally don't vaccinate before a trip because you don't want the added issues of these after effects alongside travel crankies. Enjoy your trip.

Immunity (protection) to a disease takes time to develop after the vaccination, few days are not enough for that. Also vaccinations shortly before the trip could only can make your child weaker (like maybe he'd cry more or have slight fever, for example) IMHO, it does not make sense to rush and make any vaccination right now. But you can always consult a trusted pediatrician.

Hi Natashak I took DS1 to India when he was 5 months old and asked about vaccinations for him prior to our trip and was told that they don't normally give vaccinations for ones so small for travel purposes so there was no need so long as I took the normal precautions with water etc. However, as he was EBF there was no need for me to do anything different and all was well. As for the vaccinations themselves, when you got the healthcard made they should have assigned you a clinic to go to and that's the one you'll have to attend. Most probably it will be the one in Umm Suquiem, just a little further down from the Burj. If it's your first time there you will need to take your tenancy agreement and DEWA bill along with you so that they can verify that is the clinic you should be attending or they will send you to the right one. HTH!
