We are potentially hiring a maid/nanny from 22nd of August but arrive in Dubai on the 20th of July. I will be 36 weeks pregnant then and already have 27 month old twins. My husband starts his new job on the 22nd of July so I am worried about coping on my own in a new country when I am so pregnant.

We will not be able to afford UK nanny prices, I am not sure if that is what it costs for temporary agencies?

Any advice appreciated?

Explorer Recruitment - contract for 1-4 months is 3500dhs/mth. Live in. No extra allowances but you must provide the food. 4+ months is 3000dhs upfront payment, plus 2700/month. No extra allowances, you must provide the food. I got a temp from there for 1 month, and she's so good I'm going to keep her long term. Thank you. For 1-4 months is there an agency fee? Does your temp help with the children? x There is no agency fee if you are hiring for 1-4months. The girl I have helps with everything - housework, cooking, and caring for DS. They hire out girls with and without experience - for your situation i would recommend specifying someone with experience. I havent had to show anything regarding cleaning to my girl - from day one she did everything without direction. She is spotless and does things to a higher degree than I would ask for if I showed her myself. With cooking she had no experience, but is proactively seeking to learn. She watches everything and asks questions as we cook - then for a few recipes now she can make them independently the second time around. Absolutely amazing with my DS. Affectionate, seems to genuinely enjoy playing with him. Very competent with his care - ask questions if unsure, and when i ask her to do something a certain way she always does. Its obviously going to vary between individuals - but even if you have any issues, with explorer they will replace the maid for you at no cost. Is Explorer similar to Howdra then? JPS1 - ramadan starts around the time that you are arriving so along with the heat - its going to be no eating or drinking in public (but there is a bit of lea way for pregnant women and small children) where will you be staying ? other facebook groups you should checkout are marina mums jbr sandpit breastfeeding mums in dubai most things slow down during the summer (becuase thats when everyone is travelling to escape the heat ) but dubai comes alive and a dream to live in when the weather cools down if you need help with your kids during the delivery or just to get some quite time with the newbie - I have a 30 month old boy - who loves playdates (and a maid to help with the chaos) you can mail me on sandboxtreasures @ gmail . com edited by SA_Babe on 06/07/2012 Thank you so much hun, that is very kind of you. Thank you x I remember enquiring with a few one come to mind howdra - initial few of 5000 ( i think) then 2500 pm plus toiletries and food allowance the agency fees include visa costs medical fees basic training and flight home min was 3 months else you can use helping hands 25 aed per hour and also many look up the fairy godmothers on facebook it was setup by a doula in dubai (might be useful during your delivery) and they aim to pair fairies (new mums in dubai) to godmothers (older women who miss thier grandchildren)

Try Healthbay Polyclinic, they have qualified nurses and nannies you can hire as you wish. They gave me a quote for 59aed per hour and said that there is a minimum of 9-12 hours a day. I cannot afford these prices (But I am not saying the nannies aren't worth it, they are). I just don't have that kind of budget x
