Hi,
I have a 3 month old who is exclusively formula fed.
He was breastfed for 2 months and I had to switch to formula. Lately, he has developed acid reflux. Also, he makes wheezy noises from the throat which gives me the impression that he is very uncomfortable. The pediatrician asked me to give him Infacol before every feed and switch to Nan HA, but it is still not helping.

Also, he has started refusing the feeds.
Does anyone have suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. Have taken an appointment with the pediatrician and will discuss the options.

It sounds like an allergic reaction to formula. Nan HA still has cows milk protein. The best thing to try would be Neocate which is the only formula that is fully hydrolised (broken down so that casein intolerant babies can process it). Its really expensive but if you by a tin and it works then its the easiest starting point to work down from, rather than buying lots of different tins in an attempt to find one your baby can tolerate, start with neocate and in a month or two try something partially hydrolised. Depending on how you feel about it the other option is donor breastmilk, if you google "Human Milk for Human Babies UAE" you can find the UAE branch. Its best not to switch to soy formula under 6 months as a large percentage of babies with dairy allergies can develop soy allergies too. I would get on to it quickly, the refusing the milk could last a lot longer than the reaction as once the association between eating and pain is there it can be hard to break.
