Hi Ladies,

We recently bought an American car which has the LATCH system. My DD has nearly outgrown her infant car seat, so I am in a hurry to buy a new one. I'm looking for a convertible one, because I'd like her to sit rear facing as long as possible. The problem is, that I could only find convertibles which either supports the isofix or the seatbelt. I cannot use the seatbelt as it is too short for the rear facing position..
Does anyone have LATCH in her car? Have you found a car seat? Shall I just order from Amazon and what kind? Any advice is much appreciated.

Thanks Chi2dxb for your reply. I think I'll go and buy the Evenflo at the weekend. The price is really good, and no hassle with ordering. I haven't seen any cosco here, but I'll keep it in mind for the future. Thanks again! :-)

Evenflo is good. There's also a brand called cosco that is good. Its not a reclining one but honestly I haven't used the recline on the rear facing with my son. My sister has used cosco for 3 of her kids and they've been great! That might be a little more economical.

Thanks Chi2dxb, I checked the rates and would be around 655 AED only for the shipping. Although most of the good brands are even more expensive here. I found one seat here which actually doesn't cost a fortune, called Evenflo. Is it a good brand? I mean safe enough to buy it? :-)

I know it was free until NY and then from there I don't remember the exact charges but it was around 9-10 kg if you have your shop and ship calculator you can figure it out from there with the weight. We get a discount on it so it would be different from your price anyway.

Thank you for your answers. @Australiajudy - thanks for the info, I didn't know that the isofix car seats would fit! That gives me more freedom to choose the right one. She's going to be 1 year old soon. Which convertible seats do you recommend? @Chi2dxb - I was looking at exactly the same model. Can I ask how much you paid for the shipment? (oh and thanks for the info re Amazon, didn't know they wouldn't ship it..)

I use the britax 55 for my son. That uses the latch system not isofix but it is essentially the same thing. I ordered it from babies r us to my shop and ship. Amazon will only ship books or CDs to a Dubai po box.

The latch and isofix part in the car is the same. The fixation points in the car are essentially anchor points to which u attach the seat. The seats themselves are different. The US latch uses flexible tethers to Connaect to the cars points. The European isofix uses metal teeth to grab onto the anchors. Neither needs the seatbelt for installation although most can use a seatbelt as an alternative. In short an isofix seat purchased in dubai will connect to your anchors labelled as latch. What age and size is your child? I might be able to make some recommendations.....
