At 2 years 8 months can we talk about hyperactivity? How can I know it's not just terrible twos? I'm struggling with my DD and any opinion / experience would really help. Maybe you just have a spirited child? Mine has always been extremely "energetic" and this has nothing to do with any food or preservatives because I make everything from scratch and he doesnt eat or drink anything with "nasties" in it. Some of my friends asked me how I survive such an active toddler but I am NOT concerned at all, my son is 3 now and I love his temperament. Every child is different, just like every adult is different. Some like to sit on the couch all day and some get bored quickly and constantly find things to do. Just try lots of different activities and challenge her to do things beyond her years.

Have a big look at the food/juice etc your LO is having. thanks to a lovely EW'er I discovered that the orange colouring in most mango/orange juices, ice lollies etc, would send mine bouncing off the walls, i can now instantly if something with orange colouring has been consumed ;)! If you keep a note of when it seems to be worse and what LO has eaten/drunk that day you will hopefully get to know what yours is sensitive to, try to stick to only natural colouring/flavouring and hopefully that will help. edited by Tattie Bogle on 28/07/2013
