I don't know the gender 100% yet so couldn't bring back anything which was for girls/boys but when I was back in the UK last week I bought loads of other bits. I stocked up on the white ASDA sleepsuits and vests, as my friends at home say they're the best cheap and cheerful ones, that are the softest and wash the best. Also got little pram toy sets, Dr Browns bottles, cot sheets, swaddle wraps and all sorts. So many offers on and managed a trip to one of the outlets to go to Mamas and Papas, but in general I found everything soooo much cheaper and will buy as much as I can at home.

Agree with as much as you can! Definitely clothes. Your basics: sleeping gros, sleeveless gros, blankets, day clothes, etc I personally cannot wait to get into Asda's whenever I go - faaaar better quality than some stuff here considered to be the 'cheaper' more local option. Tesco's etc must be similar.

Not sure what your feeding situation is but I might bring back a Medela breast pump. They were 3x more expensive in Dubai vs the US.... it will save you at least 1000 AED

Hi Ladies, I am currently in UK due to fly back in a few weeks, so was wondering if anyone has any suggestions what should I bring back from here for my baby currently 1 month old, an essentials or helpful stuff that I might not get in Dubai or will probably be very expensive. Thanks x Definitely agree with KH in as much as you can carry as everything in the UK is cheaper. Guessing you already have a car seat and pram, depending on who you travel with that will be 'free' luggage. Other than that, clothes - go as far as a year ahead in age, especially when they're young as they outgrow clothes every few months. Other things I stock up on when in the UK:- Ashton & Parsons teething powders - can't get in Dubai Calpol - bottles and sachets as they're great for travelling and never seen sachets here in Dubai Teething biscuits - Bikiepegs (SP?) Teething gel Saline spray for nose Children's Olbas Oil Snufflebabe - like Vicks but for little children Baby cups, bowls, spoons and other feeding paraphernalia as cheaper there Baby toothbrushes and toothpaste Burts Bees bath and shower gel Baby suntan lotion Napisan & nappy liners - I use cloth nappies and it's cheaper and easier to get this in the UK Any baby toys you may want Other things I have known others to bring back:- Hair accessories if you have a girl and are that way inclined as they're a lot cheaper in the UK Baby food - the dry boxed ones to which you add water. I know you're a long way off yet but they have long dates on and they have a lot more variety in the UK than they do in Dubai. Amber teething necklace Sophie the Giraffe teether Phew, that's all that I can think of at the moment but I am sure I've forgotten lots of things. Baby brain is such a burden that I have to start writing a list of things I need about 6 months before I make a trip back to the UK so that I can try to remember everything! :)

Kiwispiers - I concur. I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. Probably the same reason that Morrison in my area only stocks sugar free diluting squash . I have had argument after argument with customer services and they blithely just tell me it's healthier. NO way. If i ever accidentally give my kids sugar free food or drink they can taste it immediately. It's vile. Nothing wrong with sugar as long as it's in moderation and kids do a bit of exercise as well. I'm on my high horse lol but this sugar free myth is probably my most pet hate!! Sugar free and fat free tend to mean other nasty chemicals lurking We had nothing like this as kids and we turned out okay :-) I agree with your post, everything in moderation is okay Yes, it's like the parents who throw a party for their child's first birthday yet won't let them have a piece of cake! What do they think is going to happen if their baby tastes a bit of sugar? They never eat it anyway. They just tend to smear it everywhere!

Curious as to why all my British friends bring back sugar free calpol? Doesn't that mean it has artificial sweeteners in it?

My main ones are sugar free calpol and oilatum/aveeno bath & moisturising products. Also clothes from Tesco/Asda which are so cheap but last forever.

short answer - as much as you can carry! it depends on what you already have and what you still need to get. Big stuff like stroller, car seat, cot etc are much much cheaper in the UK and if you have the luggage allowance to bring those over you will save a fortune. smaller items like bottles/ breastpump/ steriliser/ playmate/ bouncy chair/ baby clothes/ bedding and toys are also much cheaper and you have a bigger variety of stuff to choose from over there. if you really want to plan ahead a few months, bring teething gel/ powder of your choice that you may not find here, nappy rash cream etc. so really, as much as you are able/ can be bothered to carry!
