Under 4 hrs and you don't need to validate at the machines.
Several times I have had a faulty ticket and there is a guy there within seconds to sort it and let me out..cf that to a car park in England where I had a faulty ticket and was over 15 mins before anyone came out and a queue of cars stacking up behind me to get out!
I just thought you gave your ticket to the guy at the barrier :-) I am never there for close to four hours. I now know so thanks ladies for informing me of this :-)
From memory, when they first introduced paid parking at MoE, you had to validate your ticket no matter how long you were at the mall. After a while, they changed that and you could exit without validating if you had been at the mall for less than 4 hours. I guess that was a strategy to avoid jams at the barriers since people were forgetting to validate the tickets, and it kind of makes sense. This way they cut down on the number of "invalid" less-than-4-hours tickets that were causing traffic jams, and they only have to deal with people who hadn't paid if they spent more than 4 hours inside. (They have also installed payment machines at some of the ground floor exits to deal with these.)
This is what happens in practice, but I have never seen anything official about not validating if you're under 4 hours. So it's probably a good idea to validate anyway on your way out just in case they suddenly change things! Or if you're just under 4 hours as you leave, but then you get stuck in one of the infamous queues to get out of MoE, so by the time you get to the barrier, you've crossed the 4 hour mark. Validating the ticket beforehand gives you 15 minutes to get out (I think!).
There are plenty of machines to do ticket validation on the way out. We always do, as I would also hate to be that person stuck at the barrier with everyone getting annoyed behind me.
Can someone explain what you mean by not validating the tickets?
I always validate the ticket before leaving the mall and I've never paid as I'm always under the four hours.
Are you saying the machine at the exits will read the ticket as below the four hours mark? So you don't have to do it in advance?
If this is the case then why did I not know about this before? All the times running back into the mall to validate the ticket were wasted?
Since living here, not once have we ever validated our parking ticket at MOE, but we constantly live in the fear that one of these days we're going to get stopped at the barrier, not for not paying (I can't think of of a time where we'd ever spend 4+ hours at the mall!), but for having not validated our ticket.
When we go to Souk Madinat, we always validate our ticket. Mainly because there's tons of signage everywhere as well as people stood next to the machine pretty much reminding you "Have you validated your ticket?" But MOE doesn't seem bothered
Has anyone here ever got stopped for not validating their ticket? Or should we not lose any more sleep over it and just carry on the way we have been?
(JK about the sleep thing.. )
Never validated mine and have never been stuck or stopped at the barrier
Carry on as normal. :-)
i have never validated my ticket in moe or souq madinat (always exit before the 4 hour and 2 hours respectively) but i would say it would be a good idea to validate the ticket in souq madinat on weekends as last weekend it took me over 15 mins to get to the exit barrier from my basement 2 parking slot.
