Our middle school children went through the drill last spring with taking school entrance assessments as we were moving to Dubai in the fall. They were super nervous but turns out for nothing as they were accepted to both schools we applied to. Both schools by the way did not have waiting lists. We had wanted a school closer to home, but alas, there was a waiting list. Now, this school, we were told, has space for next year so we went through the assessment process. Sadly both kids were rejected due to the assessment scores. I'm really surprised. Their grades are fine and have always been, no behaviour problems, native speakers, etc. I thought these exams were more of a formality. The school is not known to be highly competitive academically but it is a good school. Well, after being led to believe they had a great chance of winning a spot next year, and taking our 1000 dhms, I just don't know what to think this school is up to. Perhaps others have had a similar experience. Anyway, thanks for listening!

Yes if there is a chance they can make you part with a thousand dirhams they will do that, indeed. It's a chance you have to take based on how much you are willing to lose for the sake of s possible spot. What school is this if you could hint?

OUCH! Happened to me also. Cost me 750 though. But the emotional toll was tougher to deal with, for me at least. Another school charged a friend 1000 registration and 2500 for assessment! But he was accepted. It's terrible when they say the have spots left, when they actually don't!!!
