Retroactive Emaar NOC needed?
Hi all,
I have an issue I just recently found out about and not sure how to handle this: We bought a house in Arabian Ranches and wanted to do some alterations in the garden and the house. For the garden, our contractor told us we need permissions from Emaar and we got them.
For the house, the interior design company I used said that the stuff we wanted to do (eg, new tiles and shower in bathroom, taking out all old kitchen furniture and replacing with new kitchen cabinets etc) falls under minor alterations because we didn't do any structural changes (like knocking down walls etc) and it was all inside so we didn't need a special permission. So I didn't get one. But now a colleague visited our house and mentioned that he thinks that the stuff in kitchen and bathroom, although no structural alterations were done, would have needed permission from Emaar and that we'll be fined when they find out. I don't really know what to do now: I sort of trusted the interior design company I used that they know these things because they work a lot in Emaar properties. But I have more plans for the house and don't want to have Emaar inspecting us and then fining us a fortune if it turns out we should've gotten permissions for the previous work...
Does anyone have experience with this - do you really need a permission for everything, even changing tiles or taking out the bathtub or having a new sink in the kitchen? If yes, is it possible to get a retroactive permission from Emaar or do they immediately fine you? And how much is the fine? Am a bit worried about this now...
