Dear All,

I am looking to find a solution how to reduce the noise in my apartment that is nearly constant ( Dubai Marina construction site - working hours day and night many times). In case you can recommend me a good solution and a company who can deliver and install something on the windows, I would be very grateful. I have contacted one or two companies that have come up in Google search, waiting for their offer, however, I would be happy if you could share any experiences you might have. Thanks and regards, Katalin

Thanks, but the windows are the problem, not the walls. I need a solution for the windows and glass door facing the balcony. The walls are ok. You could try those very thick (and usually brightly coloured) blankets they sell at Carrefour - don't know if they will have them in the summer but you could try elsewhere. Buy one and hang it up against the window so you can to see if that helps. If it does you can get curtains made using the blankets as interlining in between the fabric and the lining. They do this interlining in country houses in UK to keep out the cold. I doubt curtain makers will have interlining fabric in Dubai and if not you could ask them to use blankets instead. It won't be cheap. You might be able to make them yourself using the plain cotton ones at IKEA as a base if you are good at sewing.

Hang carpets on the walls. Heavy carpet will absorb sound and can be very decorative as well.
