Landlord is Selling. My Rights?
I recently moved a month ago to another apartment. Paid the year in advance.
Three weeks after moving in the agent told me that the landlord is selling the apartment and new owner was coming to view.
So when 'buyer' arrived it was two ladies with very small children. They asked if any leaks and how many cheques, four or one? This got me baffled and I asked are you buying or renting. One lady said renting. Anyway the agent then called one of the ladies and she was saying we are in the apartment already.
The agent appeared in the corridor as they were leaving my apartment. Agent apologized and said I asked for them to wait in the lobby for me.
I said they were not buyers at all, they were renting. Agent apologized and said this was another agent that I was helping out so I will find out what happened.
Despite a few emails I never found out what happened.
Then all of a sudden late Thursday evening the agent called me again and said that the landlord has got a buyer, the landlord and seen the cheque and so the bank need to come and value the property. Obviously I am trying to be accommodating here. Agent also said that they would no longer be managing the property it would be another company. Agent also said that our rent that we paid would be transferred to the new owner.
I once again asked what happened to the buyers that appeared to be renters? The agents response was that was the buyers wife and I think there was some miscommunication there. Mmmmmmmmm??
So today arrived and I greeted the agent and the 'bank valuer'. This valuer quickly walked round the property taking notes as she went and asked if she could take pictures too. Now I don't mind but this is my home. I have also bought and sold a property before and it was more like an estate agent not a bank valuation.
Am I now going to have to let anyone and everyone view my home the whole year I am here?
I am just starting to get settled and now this.
What are my rights over here?
I am happy to help the landlord but surely this cannot go on endlessly or can it? Im just dreading the next phone call now..... viewings. How many must I have? I don't mean to be rude either but is my home also insured whilst these people are wandering round?
Just so many questions, sorry.
