Waste Management Master Plan 2030

His Highness has visited the DM stand in the presence of Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality and senior officials where he was briefed about the DM master plan 2030, projects and services.

Eng. Abdul Majeed Saifaie, director, Dubai Municipality waste management department, highlighted the need to address the challenges facing fast growing economies like the UAE. He was commenting on the support of civic body to the new Middle East Waste & Recycling exhibition taking place in Dubai from 19-21 May at Dubai World Trade Centre.

‘Dubai Municipality is looking to further increase the integration of waste and environmental solutions in order to promote a cleaner and more sustainable city for the future,’ Saifaie said.

‘Waste management is one of the biggest challenges facing fast-growing economies and it is crucial to explore innovative and sustainable ways to manage waste. To deal with the growing waste problem, Dubai Municipality has already prepared Master plan 2030 – Integrated Waste Management Plan for solid waste and private sector will also play a vital role for the successful implementation of the Master plan in the Emirate of Dubai,’ he said.

Taking place alongside FM EXPO 2014, the new Middle East Waste & Recycling Expo provides an opportunity for these interconnected industries to come together and discuss the main challenges facing the industry and best practice at a local, regional and international level.

The Middle East Waste & Recycling Conference, taking place alongside two days of the exhibition, is an industry-specific platform for discussion.

Held on 20 and 21 May, the conference features government representatives from Dubai Municipality, Center for Waste Management Abu Dhabi, and the government of Sharjah, alongside private sector leaders from Imdaad, averda and Dulsco.

‘The main objective of the Dubai Municipality in terms of waste management is sustainability. This goal will be achieved through integrated, financially, technically and environmentally efficient programs,’ Saifaie added.

DM has set up a pavilion to showcase it milestone achievements in the field of waste management along with its master plan 2030, in addition to the services provided by the department.
The visitors can directly meet with the Dubai Municipality officials who will be exhibiting at Middle East Waste & Recycling to create awareness about the current and on-going plans to create a more sustainable city.
