The kingdom will enforce a 24-hour lockdown during the five-day holiday.

Saudi Arabia is set to run a 24-hour lockdown across the five-day Eid Al Fitr holiday following Ramadan, confirmed the Saudi Interior Ministry.

The full-day lockdowns will happen from Saturday May 23 to Wednesday May 27.

Until the lockdown is introduced, people are free to move between 9am - 5pm for work, outdoor exercise, shopping for essentials, and healthcare.

The move applies to all cities and regions in Saudi Arabia. Residents, citizens, and visitors must not leave their homes during the lockdown period.

KSA reported having the largest number of Covid-19 cases among the GCC countries, with nearly 43,000 confirmed cases as of May 12, 2020. Over 15,000 patients in Saudi Arabia have recovered from the virus.

A spokesman from the Saudi Health Ministry spokesman attributed the rise of coronavirus cases among children and women in the kingdom to social gatherings.
