| Last updated on 13 May 2018Saudi Arabia which has always been known as quite a conservative country is launching a new public TV channel that will be more modernised than any of the existing TV channels. The new TV channel called SBC will be broadcasting exclusive content such as films, talk shows and cooking programmes among other content.
The schedule features Arabic series with one featuring Egyptian star Adel Imam but will mainly focus on content from Saudi Arabia . Female presenters will be wearing coloured abayas with make-up rather than the traditional black abayas. They will also be working and appearing alongside male counterparts , something which didn’t happen in the past.
This new TV channel wants to lure younger viewers to their screens and portray a more modernised image. The TV channel was announced after $35 billion fund was announced to turn Saudi Arabia into a culture and entertainment hub by 2020.
