Hubby just accepted an offer and we'll be moving to AD in August'13. My little son just turn 3 and is currently in a British pre-nursery in Bahrain. I would rather him to follow the American Curriculum, since we're Americans, so any feedback on the American schools? How good are they compared to the British ones? Which one is best?

Also I noticed some AD schools accept 3yo for KG1 but I personally find 3 to be too young. Would you recommend pre-nursery or KG1 for a 3yo?

With the completion of Regent's extensions, we were also offered a place in Foundation. We were so happy that this UK Curriculum school could offer us a place for our child. This was our first choice school after all the school-searches, and were delighted when we received the offer letter. Their Foundation Stage is fantastic!

I teach at the American International School on Airport Rd. and 29th. It uses the PYP (Primary Years Program) through the IB, but they also follow the Virginia State Standards. We have a new principal, the wife of the school director, who has been going through very strict admissions last year and this year. The elementary school has improved tremendously in the four years that I have been working there, and the school wants to have higher standards and acceptance policies to ensure the students are receiving the best education. There are still some problems as all school have, but you should give it a try. Pre-school is age 3, Kg1 is age 4 and KG2 is age 5. Let me know if you have any other questions. Some classes are already on a waiting list only basis already.

There is also the GEMS American Academy, which is also very new. I am very interested in personal accounts or reviews of each of the American Schools. We are moving to Abu Dhabi from Dubai very soon. RoseLAC My youngest child started Foundation Stage 1 at a UK curriculum school because he was very excited to join his "bigger" siblings. I was very apprehensive about this, as my other children did not start school so young. I have been absolutely happy that he has been so successful and excited to attend school everyday. Albeit, he comes home daily at 12:30pm (not a full day like the others), he is delighted from the moment I drop him and the smile remains until I pick him up. Just a thought. Encore i'd be interested to know which UK curriculum school finishes FS1 at 12.30. Thanks.

Would you recommend pre-nursery or KG1 for a 3yo? you have gems world academy which is new, and american community school, very difficult to get into this has been around for many years and is very good. the likes of acs and bsak and aldar take nursery from fs1 ie kg1 ie 3 year olds. otherwise the kids go into a private nursery same age. in the uk system you dont have to send the kids to school until reception/fs2 which is age 4/5
