I have just been fined at the airport for over staying my on arrival visa. I was on day 28. The immigration officers stated that when i arrived on 29th February this started the 30 day visa and despite me leaving Dubai on 15th March and returning on the 21st March, this did not stop the original visa and my 30 days with 10 days grace had now run out. I though if you left Dubai it stopped the 30 day visa and another started when you next entered, have the laws changed??? They gave me a letter permitting me to re enter when i return from the uk, any ifo welcome

I have just been out and in within my 30 days, UK passport has been stamped but not the 30 day visa stamp. I was also asked at immigration how long i was staying , I assume because i only have 10 days left on the visa. The officer was content i was leaving again in 7 days. I wonder if they are going to warn people now that they are not getting another 30 days on entry. I saw several people on my exit being taken into the same room i was for over staying . Still no information on the official immigration web site.

No idea. I guess you need a multi-entry visa. But the immigration guy was going mental screaming and shouting at people, who had no idea what they'd done wrong and couldn't understand the issue.

They seem to have changed the visa rules without telling anyone. Had a friend who went out during her 30 day visa and came back in, got hauled up at the airport and fined 2,000 dhs for over stay!!! UK passport holder. There was a whole bunch of people in the same situation and the immigration guy was screaming and shouting at everyone. how did she overstay considering she left the country !! Exactly! Seems they're now counting the 'out' days as well, if it's within the 30 day period. She said there was a long queue of people all with the same issue. So basically if you have a 30 day visa, go out for say 5 days during that time, then leave at the end, they count the 5 days out as overstay.

I got a 30 day Visa when I arrived in Dubai on 22nd March 2016 with ENTRY stamp. I exited on 12th May - to France but my exit was not stamped anywhere in my Passport., which is British. I'm returning in a few days so hopefully I'll be passed the 30 + 10 days rule. Why did they not stamp my exit on 12th May - will that be a problem? Sorry - I clearly cannot count - already passed the 40 days - I think!

Further to my above posts, i have eventually found out that the rules have changed and that if you leave and return within your original 30 day visa you will not be issued with a new visa. , you have to exit and stay out till day 31 or do a visa run between day 31 and 39 .

Well im back in Dubai, no issues getting in at all, however im going in and out again in the next 30 day period, so will have to see what happens. I have heard of this happening to other people and it seems to be that you only get 30 days if you leave on day 29/30 or stay out till the 30 days is finished. Definitely something to remember for the future. I leave on day 25 and will return on what would be days 30, so hope i do get a new visa for 30 days.

The same thing happened to my parents, its nothing to do with the stamps in your passport. My parents flew in on Feb 22nd for two weeks to help me move, going home on the 7th March, they then returned on 22nd March for a month as it was mine and my sons birthdays. They were told their 40 day (30+10 grace) visa started on the 22nd Feb so they had overstayed by 24 days!!! IThey were fined a small fortune as you can imagine. Im trying to challenge it for them as when they arrived on the 22nd March this should have been day 30 of their old visa and they still werent given a new visa! So they left the country and came back and didnt get a new visa- even though in their passport there was a stamp saying their new visa expires on the 24th April. Iv been to immigration office in Al Jaffilya but noone is willing to help me their attitude is tough luck.

Thanks ladies, I did leave UAE, i went to Manilla. I have an exit stamp from UAE on 15th, entry and exit stamps for Manilla. I have been self scanning my passport on arrival, so have no stamp for that and wonder if this could be the issue. Will see what happens when i return on the 28th. I think you have your reason there! If they did not stamp your passport with a new visa at return then a new visa was not issued. Interesting situation. Keep us posted.

I want to say that yes, it was implied in your post, but just in case we misunderstood, did you? If you did leave the UAE then that is very odd. If you left and went to Oman (or wherever), did they stamp you leaving the country at your exit? Did they stamp you re-entering when you returned? I would think that if they did then this makes no sense.

I think it depends on your nationality, but if you are a UK passport holder I thought you got a new 30 day tourist visa every time you arrived. So when you returned on 21st March a new stamp should have started a new 30 day visa ..... but I may be wrong !

Very odd. Never heard of that. They changed the rules for Shengen passport holders so that they can only be in the UAE for upto 90 days within any 180 day period. Always thought that if you left, you got stamped out then got a new 30 day visa next time you came back in again - otherwise people wouldn't be able to do visa runs.
