Hi Ladies,
Hoping some of you can give me some advice as I'm a little worried about how having a bub (due in April) will affect our current baby of the family, our 2 and half year old kitty...
The thing is, I'm his "person" and he's super attached to me. Always following me around, has to sleep with me, even sometimes gets in the shower with me! He loves my hubby too but it's a very different relationship. He's a lovely cat and not aggressive at all so I'm not worried about that but I do think he might get a little jealous or feel quite left out. I was also planning on sleeping in the nursery with bub, and hoping he'll sleep with my hubby in our bed but I can just imagine him crying away (he cries if he can't get in the same room as me and has done since he was little)....will have to practise this in advance to see how he copes!
Anyway, just wondering if anyone has any practical advice or helpful hints to ease the transition for him (and me!)
x

Hi Sydneygal, I gave birth and I already had 4 pussy babies, 1 in particular sleeps in my arms and cries for attention. This was my big worry and I read not to change anything, still let them sleep with you as if you start shutting them out they might leave "presents" in protest. Once my son came along there was no problem with said kitty he took to my son so quickly it was one of my posh persians who took to leaving "presents" in the nursery all the time so we eventually had to shut the nursery door and she kind of grew out of it. They do say to not change anything and if you feel they are suffering go over the top with attention. Im sure all will be fine. Good luck x
