Has anyone tried Bharat Thakur's Artistic yoga classes for weightloss ? They have classes in Emirates Golf club/ Marina and I am toying with the idea of joining and would be lovely to hear your experiences.

TIA

I go to Bharat Thakur in Marina and I love it. The instructor is great. I go to the regular ones not the weight loss. I haven't been to any yoga class before so I can't really compare, but I have been so much fitter and flexible now than when In had my first class.

Thanks ladies - I guess i will give zen yoga and this one a go and then make a choice. I am not too much into machines as I am used to the Curves workout and Fitness first is not really my first choice and moreover the class timings are all messed up. Vera - which location did you go to ? am planning to hop into the emirates hills club for a trial session.

spot on Pilatesmama. I really like the ambience at Zen Yoga, but then they closed down the beach road branch :( it's now in Beach centre on beach road Try Balance 360 in Oasis mall - lovely thanks for that Angelina, will give Balance 360 a try. I usually just do Yoga X from P90X at home or at the beach, but one every month or so i like taking a class...and good to get your poses checked..

with yoga its all about the repoire u have with the instructor. sometimes 2 people can attend the same class and one can love it and one can hate it.. As a pilates instructor i always tell clients that go to different instructors classes and check which instructor u feel most comfortable with. in Dubai one is so spoilt for choice as their are many instructors and studios around. wishing u love and light and hope u find an instructor u love :)

Hi, I wasn't keen on the instructor either but in fairness to him, he did come around to help some of the students with their form, etc. I think the first class is complimentary so you can give it a try without making a huge commitment.

Ummmm - I just tried out the Artistic class for the first time on Sunday and I won't be going back. It was unlike any yoga class that I have been to. If you are looking for something relaxing, meditative, this is NOT the class. After I was done, I ran into a lady in the elevator and we got to chatting and she didn't like it at all either. She recommended Ananda's Yoga in the Greens. Said he was a good Hatha yoga teacher. If you are going for weight loss, it might work - I was pretty sore the next day. Not sure what the weightloss class is like. I have an online membership at myyogaonline.com. I just downloaded a video and did it at home yesterday and felt great. I definately recommend the website! hi aprilmama - i am looking for a weightloss yoga - so would you consider their instructors to not be good or is it just that yoga was not relaxing? edited by xiana on 12/04/2012

I have not taken it here but in Canada and it is Yoga. The postures are the same, just presented differently at times. I would suggest you try it for yourself :) not here - it's done so fast that you barely get into the postures; if you are interested in yoga then i really wouldn't recommend it - if you want to lose weight would get a PT. Actually i just wouldn't recommend it.

it's not really yoga in the true sense of the word - would think you would be better off with either Zen Yoga or Balance well being in Oasis centre.
