The road that has been blocked off to gain access to dubai mall and downtown area has actually been closed off by Emaar!!! And there is no apparant reason as to why they have closed it off as my husband has been down there on both sides, and there is ZERO work going on with regards to the roads. Its seems (to me) they have just closed it off to be difficult and maybe get some extra dirhams in on the old salik. I dont know, maybe they are short of money!??

My husband emailed salwan with regards to this and this is how we know. But they have been receiving complaints about it, so LADIES......Please can you get as many people to email with regards to this, and maybe they might open that road back up again. Its a total nuisance that its closed, and annoying since there is no reason for it.

Thought you ladies might want to get onboard with this! Power in numbers and all that...

Malibu:)

Hi everyone, I used to live in Millennium Tower and for the longest time, access to that roundabout was closed. I finally phoned the RTA complaint line and insisted (politely) on being called back by a manager. A very pleasant fellow rang me and I explained how unfair it was that we were being forced to pay Salik in order to exit our building. He promised to look into the matter. Not long afterward, they opened the road. It was probably a complete coincidence but...you never know!

So... RTA are saying its EMAAR and EMAAR are saying its RTA.... Sounds like two kids in a playground.... There is a very large very nice finished tunnel heading to DIFC which has a lot of lights on all day and night which are costing money to run, and nobody can now used the darn thing as they have closed the road.... bunch of Muppets I have repeatedly heard that SZR was there to relieve congestion. Being forced onto it creates unnecessary congestion. I do however have to admit that there have on occasion been some very aggressive drivers on the back road, speeding beyond all that is reasonable, It could be as a response to drivers like these that the road has been closed. edited by Sage & Onion on 29/03/2011

This was the response we got from emaar! Dear....., Once again, we thank you for contacting Emaar Properties explaining the concerns you have on the above mentioned subject. Please be informed that Emaar Project team confirmed that the concerned road was open for a limited period for construction traffic only and there has not been any permission or authorization to open this road for the Public. However, it has been used by other motorists to take advantage of the situation using it to access to Sheikh Zayed Road or DIFC (Dubai International Financial Ctr) road causing unnecessary congestion to the traffic on the Boulevard. In view of the above, we regret that we are unable to assist further in this regards as the roads are under RTA(Roads and Transport Authority) authorization and regulation and it is RTA decision in opening or closing such access. We hope we have been able to clarify your concerns and if you require further assistance on any other matters, please do not hesitate to contact us on our Customer Care numbers +971 4 3661688 or toll free: 800-EMAAR (36227). Bit of a joke if you ask me, its a road, they have built a tunnel connecting this side of town to difc area....what was the point in that if they dont want traffic on those roads!! Pathetic!! We need to do something....newspapers?? Im not good at this stuff.....anyone got any ideas? edited by Malibu on 29/03/2011

Well this was my reply from Dubai Assests regarding the roundabout : Please be informed that we had a meeting with representative from RTA (Traffic Department), and they informed us that the access road to downtown area is closed by EMAAR not by RTA. Additionally we have been informed by RTA that they received numerous complaints from newspaper and Executive Towers residents regarding the same. RTA will approach Emaar to open the road and they will come back to us with the update. We will be updating our residents as soon as we receive feedback from the concerned departments. Best Regards The Executive Towers Property Management Business Bay Sales Center E: [email protected] Dubai, UAE.

Why would Emaar want to be such a pain??!!! I also noticed that there is zero work being done. I thought maybe the RTA wanted to make some money before the main road between Business Bay and Downtown openned up. I am so annoyed I will make sure to email them a complaint asap. Thanks for the info!!!

You can email them directly on [email protected] or email the management group for exec towers at [email protected] Also you may want to reference the area as 'Roundabout by Millenium towers' My husband is waiting on a response from emaar as to what they are going to do about it, and no suprise but we havent heard anything back yet!!
