I don't understand smokers.... We are living in an apartment where somone is throwing his/hers cigarettes from their balcony instead of throwing them into an asthray.

Almost every day - mostly - evenings we see when sitting on our balcony cigarettes being thrown down - often still burning!!! Sometimes the empty Malboro lights packages landing on our balcony. I think they are landing on other balconies further down also. The reception doesn't know what to do.

It is so dangerous. Because they are often still burning. Residents have plants, kids toys, cartons..... on their balconies. That could easily start a fire. And on the ground you can see also lots of empty cigarette packages... Why are smokers always are so selfish and don't think.... what would you do in that case?

When my DD was just a toddler I had her out shopping one day and a stupid woman in the street hit her in the face with her cigarette, just swung her arm out without looking, thankfully there had been a lot of ash on the tip of the cigarette so my DD was not burned. I left the woman in no doubt what I thought of her. :(

I should hire someone who lives in Liwa Heights or next to have an eye on the balconies above ours. Or possibly sit and wait on one of the banks on the other side with binoculars.....;) We are living in Green Lakes Towers. I mean was a smoker for some years but I never have thrown cigarettes out of a car or balcony... As a smoker I didn't liked cigarettes lying around on the ground... Here they are everywhere.. no one seem to care...sad! Was going to look around JLT this weekend for a flat shall avoid your building!

THe security in our building send a leaflet thru doors reminding us all not to throw cigarettes and ash. Im a smoker and would never dream of doing this to my neighbours. Many moon's ago I was driving and someone flicked the cigarette from another car and it landed right in my face, not pleasant I assure you.

Have had the same problem. Have asked and shouted at these rude people but to no avail. Start throwing some of your rotting rubbish into their balcony, they might rethink then. :)

I get really annoyed walking on the beach and there are cigarette ends all through the sand, it is disgusting and if in bare feet you have to try to avoid standing on them. :(

do you know which apartments are doing this? go up and tell them to stop it. If they continue and you know who it is call the police...... Last night i was in my balcony and saw some flick ash into my balcony..... they got shouted at to get an ash tray, was very tempted to sweep it up and dump it back in their flat....

If it was me I would try to find out which apartment they are being thrown from and try to speak to them. If they are hostile about it then call the police. As you say it is very dangerous. At the risk of incurring the wrath of other posters I also find some smokers can be very selfish with regard to their habit.
