Hi ladies,

I have been suffering from bleeding on and off due to constipation – the last gastroenterologist told me that although I have symptoms of hemorrhoids, it’s actually a tear (fissure) that is not healing and hence causing the issue of bleeding.. I was given Movicol to clear the constipation and a gel that I needed to use with a suppository which would help heal the tear. I was told that the gel would cause major headaches, which it has – I get severe headaches all day which i really cant handle so I stopped using the gel..

I was given a 2 month supply of movicol but I didn’t want my body to be addicted to medication…so I stopped using them after a few weeks as I was getting diarrhea …now that I have stopped the constipation has come back..Also I suffer from severe bloating..along with the bleeding..

I am so depressed ladies and I don’t know what to do..the gastro i went to has now left and i dont know who else to turn to - i think that I am eating healthy but I may be sensitive to certain foods that may be causing the bloating etc..I am so tired of this issue…

Has anyone suffered from the same and has any natural remedies that will help the bloating and constipation…and also can anyone recommend a well renowned gastroenterologist…Ideally, I prefer going to American Hospital, Wellcare, City Hospital but other doctors recommendations are really welcome..

Thanks ladies

Thank you so so much ladies for your help..in desperate need for a gastro, I ended up paying a fortune (not covered by insurance) and went to see Dr. Rolef..it was well worth it...she put me on som...
How much does all the treatment average cost without insurance at American hospital ? I need to consult her for my mother. The average cost depends on case to case but still i want to get some idea. Thank you in advance.

I have seen Dr Rolef and Dr Regina Will at the American. Dr Will did my colonoscopy and it was painfree! They are both excellent and were part of my diagnosis of bowel cancer. They trained together as well! Good luck

You asked about natural remedies for bloating and constipation? Try 1 Tbsp of Cider Vinegar mixed with 250 ml of water twice a day for a week or so then reduce to once daily. You should still see a gastroenterologist, but this will definitely help your symptoms. Hope you're soon on the mend!

I have just had major bowel surgery under the care of Dr Faisel Ikram at the City Hospital. He is fantastic and i owe my life to this man. Also the care i recieved at the City Hospital overall was first class.

I heard that at Manchester Clinic they do some kind of massage (I think it's called spinal alignment or something like that) that helps with constipation. You might want to give them a call. My acupuncture doctor told me about it. Sorry I don't remember the exact name of the treatment. Also you could try to get a food intolerance test done which checks for IgG antibodies. I changed my diet and after about two months I noticed that my constipation and bloating was gone. It was a tough change but for now it seems to be working.

I had major surgery to the colon in November and had it done by Dr Faisel Ikram at the City Ospital. He is amazing and worked side by side with Dr Peter Burrow who has now gone back to S.A. We have a family history of colon cancer and all my family now see him for check-ups. My surgery took 6 hrs and my recovery time was very short considering. I had been suffering with bleeding as in your case and a few other symptoms.. Not saying that you will require surgery. If you require further info let me know. Good luck

Dr Matias at Dubai London Clinic - my DH was very happy with him when he had to undergo emergency endoscopy, and DLC is maybe on your insurance?

I do not recommend doctors usually because I found only few of them here in Dubai that deserve a recommendation. If your insurance covers Medcare Hospital, there I have seen doctor Emad Fayyad that magically helped to end a long time of stomach problems, I highly recommend him. He is a very good professional with a proper school and much knowledge. Good luck, I also know how it is to struggle with stomach problems.

Xiana, I feel for you and have the exact same problem. I could have written your post. I have Hemril suppositories from the US, it's hydrocortisone acetate. Seems to be helping, and no headaches or side effects. Don't know if that is available here. Also was told to take metamucil every day to help with constipation. Good luck!

I knew abt Dr Dinesh leaving which is why I said Dr Klein and Dr Rolef, hmmmm, there is a DR called Emad Fayed (not sure of the spelling) doing a endoscopy on a friends child this week, hes at Medcare and she seems pleased with him so far. If you ask on the Gluten Free - U.A.E facebook wall you will get tons of recomendations Im sure, this is something talked about alot on there! Such a shame that Dubai has lost Dr Barrow and now Dr Dinesh too :( We need more Gastros! edited by Purple on 07/02/2012 Thanks Purple...yes, i also read about Dr. Peter Barrow and called City to find out that he had also left...quite depressing as I dont just want to go to anyone - ive already had a bad experience with one where i was not satisfied with the amount of unecessary medications i had to take and my body got used to them..if it werent for the money issue i would have gone to Dr. Rolef as she is well recommended as well...lets see

The old thread refers to a couple of doctors who are no longer here, try Dr Klein, he is good, google him, hes at health bay. His wife is also a good Gastro, but I have totally forgotten her name! Will post when I remember it! :) Edit to add, his wifes name is DR Rolef, I have friends who see both her and Dr Klein and are very happy. I believe Dr Rolef is at the same clinic as her husband :) Good luck. edited by Purple on 07/02/2012

Try doing a search on the forum...I did it a while ago for my DH. I've found this for now, http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/messages.aspx?TopicID=119885 however, you might find more recommendations from searching further? HTH edited by coco pops on 07/02/2012
