After all the brunches, nights out etc my body is having a go at me to do something healthy. So the question is..... can anyone recommend a good 'do at a home' detox or a detox break somewhere nice in October? Ta

49 M&Ms - I'm going on the 12th so if you remember, remind me when I get back and will let you know :) It's not that expensive - 4000 for 10 days with the treatments and food :)

I know detoxs are popular; recently ordered some special detox tea for my dd, but really our livers and kidneys are detoxing everything all day every day. Tried to explain that to dd. You'll feel lighter following a detox program because you are drinking a lot of liquids (teas, juices, soups and so forth) some of which will have a laxative effect and I'm sure there's the psychological effect of feeling you are doing something good for your body. However, if you reduce carbs and meat and just eat a lot of fruit and drink a lot of water with lemon, mint & cucumber, you'll feel just as good and save a packet. http://www.news-medical.net/news/2009/01/06/44701.aspx

katscamel - have you gone on your 10 day detox retreat yet? Would love to hear about your experience, as I am looking for a 1-week retreat to get cleansed and kick start healthy lifestyle. Any recommendations for affordable detox spas would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks ladies. I knew about the JV detox but to be honest it's far too much hassle to go and buy all the fruit/veg etc and juice it Café Baroque sounds good - will give them a ring. Have also booked in for a 10 day ayuverda spa/detox in Sri Lanka :)

Take a look at the Jason Vale juice detoxes - they're amazing! I did the 7lbs in 7 days one and it works a treat. If you can't do 7 days to start, he does a 3 day one. All his books are in Planet Nuttrition in Dubai Mall.

I back Cafe Baroque - they have a revamped 3 day juice detox and a 7 day juice detox too. There are evening soups included (which you can have at lunch instead of dinner if you wish). You also have a lemon, and 2 herbal tea bags (the only green tea I can drink) along with the flasks. Or you can check out www.naturaljuicejunkie.com or www.juicemaster.com for some inspiring juices and stories that you can make yourself from home. However, best you get them delivered and you can realx and not have to worry about anything and pampoer yourself with your spare time instead. Edited to add - Cafe Baroque charges AED500 for the 3 days and AWD1000 for the 7 days which I think is more vakue for money over detox delights, who I feel over charge (AED2500?) for what they offer. But its personal choice and this is just my opinion... And you have inspired me, Im off to book my 3 day juice detox starting tomorrow :)) edited by Fatexpatdxb on 16/09/2013

So the question is..... can anyone recommend a good 'do at a home' detox or a detox break somewhere nice in October? Ta This is just a tiny tip that works very well after overindulging, etc....first thing in the morning drink lukewarm water in a mug with half a lemon's juice. Cleanses the liver, etc....You can also order detox supplies from SpaceNK in the UK/US, I used David Kirsch products, they last a while and delicious too.

I've heard you can go to Thailand for some great detoxes but I haven't been. I'd love to try it, though! I adore the cleanse the Cafe Baroque offers - 3 or 7 day, it's fantastic! They delivery to you fresh every day, and it's delicious! It's super easy to book as well -- shoot them an email, give them your information, and I paid cash on my first delivery.
