Hi everyone

I'm new to the forum and appreciate your assistance in advance.

I am moving from Doha to Dubai in the next 2 months. I hold an Australian drivers licence (have not been driving in Doha so don't have a Qatar licence) - is it possible to have my Australian drivers licence converted to the UAE?

I'm getting conflicting information between the Dubai Governmeny website and feedback from those already living there.

I'd love not to have to do the test etc if possible but if that's the rules - that's life!!

Thanks again

Hi I'm Australian and got my U.A.E liscence yesterday. You need to get your liscence translated to Arabic , there are a few companies that can do this for you for a fee (my husbands work organised mine) they also wanted to see my Passport and Emirates I.D. I had an eye test at the Center (30aed) and liscence cost 200aed which I recieved right then and there Thank you so much! That is great news.

Thank you both for the info. I hoped this was the case but am being told otherwise. Definitely will be there in an Aus passport and have an Aus licence. You have both made my day! Thank you

As long as you are here on an Australian passport. Passport nationality and license issuer must match.

Yes it is...Australia is on the list of countries that are allowed to exchange their permanent driver’s licence from their home country for a Dubai driving licence.
