Hello, recently arrived in Dubai from England, getting settled in and my son now in Kindie, but need to find a doctor to put on his medical file at school. In England you have to register with a particular doctor or surgery - is it the same here? Nearest one to me is Dubai London Clinic in Festival City, or also the Welfare Clinic in Uptown Mirdif. Any recommendations or thoughts on these two? Do medical records get transferred?
Thanks for any help!

I also highly recommend Dubai London Clinic - feels like walking into a little bit of England when I go there, except anything NHS is nowhere near as smart! :)

We've used both Dr. Deamer and Dr. Carol Smilie at Dubai London Clinic and found them both to be good. I know they accept a wide range of private insurance as well. Their opening hours are really good as well...I think until 8pm?

We use Dr. Ngo at Welcare Mirdif for the adult stuff and Dr Mona there for our DD. Some people don't like Dr Mona but I haven't had any problems, she understands my dislike of medicines so gives us very little, and has to convince me it is the best thing to do. The nurses there were fantastic the one time we were worried about DDs temperature and calmed her and us down. You will probably find that your insurance will only cover a paediatrician for your children so you cannot take them to a GP (like Dr Ngo) and be refunded. edited by MirdifIngrid on 09/01/2011

Dubai London Clinic is fab - i go to the branch in Jumeriah and really do recommend it. If you search on here you will find lots of recommendations for Dr Carole Smilie Don't go to Carol Smilie please she's hard enough to get an appointment with already ;) (she is fab) Also if you're looking for a pediatrician I highly recommend Dr Keith Nicholl http://www.keithnicholl.com/

I have never registered at a Drs at all. It's pretty different here than like in the UK where you have your family GP. If my kids are sick I take them to the nearest dr for non urgent stuff and for something more serious a recommended 'specialist'. We have never had to put down a specific dr on a school form.

We use Dubai London Clinic at FC and are really happy with them - we were using Dr Moore but he recently left so our last appointment was with Dr Nicola Beamer and she was really good too.
