Will be moving to Mirdif in May. Found a house left hand side of 15th street ( Mosque/Jadeed bakery level ) coming down from Algeria going towards MCC . Is this area in the flight path? TIA

The mosque will be louder than the planes. Now the Russian cargo planes have moved to Jebel Ali, we really don't find the planes a problem anymore. All the best for your move. You'll love Mirdif. We do, been here 10 years now.

(i am not that much further away, but enough to have to get in the car to make sure they are hot when i get home!!!)

I used to be on 73C street just behind westzone. you could see the colour of the pilots eyes as they flew over....the shadow as it went over the pool was a welcome relief in summer :-P AAWWWW the mirdif moments...like that! an apt description! i agree the mosque is likely to be louder than the planes where you describe. edited by Blueskies on 27/03/2011

Thanks ladies. We are so excited to move to Dubai after 33 years in Sharjah. We tried to move last year but could not find our dream house within our budget.

Shaks you'll be fine. And yes, they change runways and also landing/take off directions. But no doubt you'll hear the noise outside and will probably have some "Mirdif moments" where you stop talking and continue once the plane has gone over. Haha I remember those, the break in conversations, then just carry on. All our non-Mirdif resident guests love it;-)

You have to remember that the noise isn't constant, and they change direction when the wind changes round, so half the time they're coming from the other direction.

We will be on street 11C. The villa has double glazing windows..my worry is sitting the noise when sitting in the garden edited by shaks on 27/03/2011

Which street. If it's the first u turn at the bakery...you'll get some noise. But it's really not bad. The mosque is louder...but we loved it so never complained (infact we miss it). Second u turn and first right...that block is quite quiet. Hope I've made sense.

It's just off the flight path, depends which runway they use. You will get substantial aircraft noise there.
