I'm needing to go home in July for 6 weeks ish and flights are looking to be about £700 return. This is with 1 stop in Heathrow. Is this about right to pay for this time of year for 1 adult and 1 infant?

I think in future I'll try my best to book the flights sooner, it seems that way you get a better deal

Christmas flights seem to be the same. In fact I'm just looking at Xmas flights (trying to work out which set of flights are more expensive so that the company can pay the higher set!), and BA to LHR was 12895 economy 2xad, 1xch 1x inf, but only 1kaed more expensive in premium!. I'm still working through the others. Virgin is also worth looking at, but it's only into LHR, so not much use for MAN flights I suppose.

Unfortunately This is our experience. Sometimes you can get a reasonable price if you book well in advance but not always!! We tend to book flights to Manchester in August for Christmas and tend to pay around 450 GBP (before the fuel increase!)

Also check Qatar Airways and BMI (from Abu Dhabi).

It's the oil prices and reduced business from certain countries sending flight prices up. EK's fares went up on March 1st. KLM are worth checking out.

Prices seem to have gone up in general. I was trying to get a flight this week back to the UK and it is c.£700, and has been for ages. Just been looking at our summer flights and christmas ones and the cheapest we can get for 2adults, 1 child and 1 infant is 12800aed. I've also been playing with random dates on 1 adult (as I'm trying to go back at some point to sort some paperwork out, but it can be anytime) and it seems 3985-6000aed is about the going rate at the moment, date dependent.

Oooh I'll have a look at going from Abu Dhabi, I never thought of that. Thank you. I have checked Birmingham but they seem ot be more expensive on this occasion, as they are ALWAYS cheaper to Birmingham. Its so frustrating

We have found Etihad (from Abu Dhabi) tend to have good rates direct to Manchester, if Emirates are too expensive. Have also flown direct to Birmingham and been collected by family for the hour drive to Manchester. We found the hour drive easier than having to change flight with an infant. Good Luck

This is the price from Skyscanner. Not looked at Expedia yet. If it is how much are at this time of year then I'll pay it, just seems a lot when we have the same flights in may for £300. They certainly know when they have you over a barrel!
