Similar situation here, and haven't seen any recent posts. I'm a Filipina and my fiancee is Canadian. Church wedding is something we will do next year, but looking for a civil option in the interim. Philippines Embassy can perform a ceremony between two Filipinos only, and Canada Consulate does not perform. Understand that the Dubai Court is for Muslims only. Any solutions known other than the options outside of Dubai?

First question is, where are they getting married? There are key things to remember: 1. Marriage requirement of Ireland to be acknowledged as legal 2. Marriage requirement of the Philippines to be acknowledged as legal 3. Marriage requirement of the country where you are holding the marriage All documentation requirements list would be available via each individual's embassy along with the requirements to be completed before marriage. After the marriage, each individual would then need to report their marriage to their respective countries is that's a requirement so that their status could be changed from single to married. Ministry of Foreign Affairs comes to play as a requirement of the country where you are getting married (if such country is not your original country) plus the authentication of your marriage in that country. It's really a bit complicated. I tried to make it as simple as possible but if you have questions, let me know. I fully understand how you and your friend must be feeling now. You could really get lost unless the concept becomes clear.

I believe documents must be DFA authenticated then stamped by the UAE Embassy in your home country. The same goes to the Filipina girlfriend.

Hi ladies, definitely need some help. My Irish friend is marrying his Phillipina girlfriend. We are jumping around trying to get the necessary paperwork. We're being told to contact the depeartmrnt of foreign affairs in Dublin, which we've done and they were no help at all. Next we tried from the Abu Dhabi Irish Consukate and again we're drawing a blank or confused info. Question is this do the documents that have been requested from Ireland (birth cert, confirmation cert, baptism cert and letter of freedom) require authentication by UE embassy over here? or by the Depart of foreign affairs or both?!!! Any clues as we're really losing sleep. Many thanks.
