so if she is already 15 she needs to go and get it done with you.
"The identity card is mandatory for persons 15 years and above"
obviously now is mandatory for all children now, but under 15 do not need to attend they just need to have light blue passport piccies.

Thanks, busybee2 - my daughter is neither under 15, nor 16 yet! What to do in those circs, do you think? Not to worry will call the ID card peeps tomorrow.
i did mine before and it took 5 mins to do the typing, and then drive in abu dhabi to the id place which is on the mainland and then it took 5 mins to do it there
Thanks, SmarterThanEver, it's good to know. Ìt's true, the last time I rang them, they were very helpful. Now, I'm wondering, daughter turns 16 end of April, is it worth getting her a card now and then renewing it? Or shall we just wait till May, or have I got it completely round my neck and 15 is the magic age, not 16? I could go check the website rather than bothering peeps here!
if they are under 15 then they dont need to go for fingerprinting etc, just take 2 photos with light blue background, if they are 16 they need to for fingerprinting. if you have different apts, then all go for the first one together and try it, men and women are usually different queues so you may get all the females done but still have to wait for any males etc
Hi ladies, sorry to hijack the thread but can I just ask the ladies who had their typing done over the last few weeks, which centre you went to, how long you had to wait and what time of day was it.
I wanted to go when things calmed down and it wasn't too busy as I have 2 little ones!
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks ladies.

Sorry, can't tell you, someone from husbad's office did it for us, but we didn't see our passports for a couple of days..

My husband, daughter and I all had appointments on different days/times, and we weren't sure which was which! The company PRO suggested we all went along together. All in and out in 15 minutes.............:) Worth a try.XXX
Dubaicat - ours are for March and from what I've read here, that is indeed normal - we got the typing done last week. No, I mean this week.

Can I jump in with another ID question please? :)
We got texts telling us we have our appointments booked. Mine's in March and DS's is in April! Is it normal for it to take so long?

Yes call them and they will give you all new appointments at the same time and centre. They will even do their best to give you the time and centre most convenient to you.
I'm sorry, I know this has been done to death here, but I hope someone may have had the same experience.. We've got our appointments for the fingerprinting and photos, but though dorter and I are on the same day, our appointments are at different times (husbad is another day altogether!) and on a school day. If I ring them up tomorrow, will they let my daughter and me go at the same time and would they change to a time after school, do you think?
Edited to correct a glaring grammar mistake which made me blush :(
