post your email for JKR to contact you, as she has contacted me but I don't need one now as a friend of mine is bringing one over from the states (I just have to be patient) think she's asking 3400AED or the 64gig wifi

So, there are 2 left. 64gig, wifi, one black and one white. Told him to post here before dubizzle. Let me know if you are interested!! :) Hi what is the situation with your spare ipads?

I did read your post Icedqueen but on the 26th March I ordered Dr dre headphones from the Apple shop in AMERICA through shop and ship and today they arrived in Dubai :) So I decided to try my luck with the ipad knowing full well that Apple might not accept the order even though they processed the headphone two days prior and I am happy to say I received my headphones through Apple AMERICA today so thanks for the warning but it worked out for me......whats the harm in trying??? :)

Should I say.... erm... I told you so? Seems like NOBODY even bothered reading my post! rofl Our orders weren't cancelled "to be fair to other customers", though. Ours were cancelled because of Apple's policy of not shipping to addresses known to be used by freight forwarding companies. In other words, they know that the only reason anyone would ship something to that address would be to have it forwarded on out of the country. In your case, they almost certainly assumed that so many iPads being shipped to a single address meant that somebody was stockpiling them to sell. They probably investigated afterwards and discovered that it was actually a freight forwarding address. The interesting thing is that despite what the site says about credit cards needing to have a US billing address, we've been able to order using UAE credit cards with no problem at all. edited by edna.welthorpe on 02/04/2011 Well either way I did try to warn you but my post went on deaf erm blind eyes! The email I received from them read as below (they probably realised afterwards that it was a freight forwarding address): Thank you for your recent Apple order. To ensure that all customers are given equal opportunity to acquire this product we have limited the amount available per customer. Therefore, this order has been cancelled. If you have any questions regarding this order, please contact us at [email protected] or by simply replying to this email. We apologize for any inconvenience caused. Sincerely, Apple Online Store Customer Support

Be careful with trying to ship an Apple product via your Shop n Ship account. When the first iPad was released I tried ordering online using the same method and I received an email from apple stating that in order to be fair to other customers, they cannot ship so many products to the same address and automatically cancelled the order. Thankfully my credit card was not charged at that point. Should I say.... erm... I told you so? Seems like NOBODY even bothered reading my post! rofl

Why google when I have Edna to answer all my questions ;) Yes Apple store in US cancelled my order as they realised the shipping address was Aramex but two days earlier I ordered headphones from Apple US and they shipped them to Aramex as they have told me they are on their way to Dubai already so they missed that order!!??

Out of curiosity...I wonder how much they are in Italy, I want to get my DS one for his birthday. Any clues? You might just find the information you want on the official [url=http://store.apple.com/it'>Apple Store for Italy[/url'>... ;) I have decided to order one from the Apple UK shop Did the US store cancel your order because of your Aramex address? more expensive than US but alot cheaper than here. How does the 3G work over here, can we subscribe to it in Dubai. Anyone know if the UK ipad 2 with 3G are unlocked? There's this thing called Google, you may have heard of it... ;) Just to save you the bother of Googling it, UK iPad 2s bought direct from Apple are unlocked, because it's up to the customer to choose which mobile carrier (if any) to go with for 3G after they've bought it. However, if you buy an iPad from a mobile carrier (lots of them are offering the iPad at a major discount if you sign up with them for 3G for a minimum period), there is a chance it will be locked to that carrier. Yes, the 3G works here. You just buy a micro SIM and data plan from either Etisalat or Du. <em>edited by edna.welthorpe on 01/04/2011</em>

Wait until the early demand peters out and prices fall back to normal? If you're so desperate to have one ASAP that you're willing to pay a markup, you don't need to be paying 50%. You could buy from one of the resellers on the Amazon US site. Right now, you can get the most expensive iPad 2 (64Gb+3G+wifi) for 3672 AED from Amazon.com. Add on about 120 AED for Aramex and 360 AED for import duty if you're unlucky. Can you get the same model for 4152 AED in Dubai? I doubt it somehow...

I know this may be late... but if anyone still wants an ipad, at a not ridiculous price, they'll be available again on Thursday on http://www.jadopado.com which looks to be a new company that's started in Dubai... from what I was seeing on twitter, they had some a few weeks ago but sold out, and now getting them back in stock. From their website: iPad 2 16GB with Wi-Fi is AED 2,800.00 Happy Shopping!

Just had the confirmation email from Apple for my re-order which is going to be sent to friends in the States rather than direct to Aramex :) Nothing to do now but wait a month :( A friend who went to Dubai Mall yesterday said that the 16Gb iPad 2 with wifi only was priced at [b'>6000 AED[/b'>. Seriously, who is dumb enough or desperate enough to pay a 230% markup?

I bought Dr Dre headphones through the US Apple store two days ago with a UAE credit card but through Aramex shop and ship and I have just got an email saying they have shipped it so maybe they are not processing orders for the IPAD 2 only. I am going to try my luck and place an order tonight to see if it gets cancelled or not.

I think my daughter's right, I'm too simple to handle an iPad and all that goes with it. I haven't understood a word of this thread, I just think it looks *pwetty* :)

I was right, it was too easy! ;) My order has just been cancelled because they know that the US address I gave is a freight forwarding company, and they don't ship to those. It's not a big issue for me, because I'll just do a new order and have them ship it to friends in the States who will then send it on to Aramex when it arrives. It would just have saved a few extra days to be able to ship it direct from Apple to Aramex. On the plus side, the sales tax for the state where my friends live is half that of New York, so I've saved a bit more money there. Fiendishly clever buggers, those Apple people ;) edited by edna.welthorpe on 27/03/2011 NO WAY!!! they haven't cottoned on to shop in ship now have the? there goes all my plans!!!

If you go to the apple store online its $499 for the 16gig wifi only.... much cheaper Um... yes! If you read the post of mine that you quoted, you'll see that that's exactly what I was pointing out - that the cheapest iPad 2 bought direct from the Apple Store in the US costs 1823 AED (which equates to $499). Sorry, I was agreeing with you! thats why I quoted you.

The 3G can be turned off. In fact it will arrive turned off and if you wanted to use it you would have to go and buy a 3G microSIM and data plan. We won't be using the 3G at first, but we'll probably buy a data plan when we're back in the UK over the summer. Until then we'll use it with wifi only. And of course an iPad 2 with wifi only will work in Dubai. Why wouldn't it? Just to repeat, the iPad 2s you can buy here now are American models that have been unofficially imported. When the official UAE ones arrive, they will be exactly the same, although they will probably have FaceTime removed. BTW, just on the subject of import duty and prices, I'm told that the low-end iPad 2 (16Gb + wifi only), which sells for 1832 AED direct from Apple US, is selling for 4000 AED at Mall of the Emirates. That's a [b'>120% markup[/b'>. Import duty is 10% at worst... edited by edna.welthorpe on 27/03/2011 If you go to the apple store online its $499 for the 16gig wifi only.... much cheaper
