Sorry ladies for my endless questions...if anyone has sensitive and combination skin and has used both the above brands...i would like to know which one is a better brand for this type of skin..i also have mild acne roseace...Dermatologist recommended me avene but didnt say no to la roche either...i dont want to go through trial and error so i wanted to pick a better and more natural product..

I would really prefer advice on any of these two please

I have been using dermalogica but not satisfied as I have sensitive combination skin with roseacea…

…I also checked the following links (mentioned on many threads) to do product and ingredient search..I didnt seem to understand how the search works and what i should be looking at in terms of the resutls for comparison of ingredients etc.. can anyone tell me or help me with assessing or compare the two brands on these links please? Are these websites accurate/honest?

I've been using La Roche Posay for 5yrs now. I had tried Avene first, but it did not have any visible results so I had to search for other solutions. I'm very please with La Roche Posay products. Stock up abroad if you get a chance, else Boots do have sometimes 3for2 deal. I think you do need to buy the whole line, why don't you get a moisturiser first and see if you like it.

Both GoodMorning and Monkey Face are right; there will be a period of trial and error with what works best for you -- unless you are lucky and get it right the first time -- and what works for one, may not work for you simply because each individual has their own chemistry which has to be tolerant of and work with the products. I've never heard of Avene, but I've been using La Roche-Posay for seven years. They have several lines. The Toleraine line is created specifically for rosacea and sensitive skin. I wouldn't use anything else -- I do use it with the face scrub and metro creme which I mentioned before -- but that's me and my skin. I went through numerous products before hitting on the right combo for me. I still have rosacea, but it's only noticeable to me and my doctor. I'm sure you'll get it right, but only by finding what works best for you. And all the rest that you've posted on another thread ... You Go, Girl!

I believe someone suggested on another thread that you go to a recommended dermalogist first before trying out these cosmetic brands which may irritate your skin. You may have to try several dermatologists before you find one that is able to help you but trust me, it's not worth investing in these over-the-counter products which may just worsen your condition. Dr. El-Hoshy has been recommended on EW, http://www.thedentalspa.org/team.asp#05, he is based in the USA but has appointments in Dubai every 1-2 months. I had to visit countless dermatologists in UAE and USA before I finally found one here who was able to put a name on my condition and properly treat it. That same doctor was unable to cure a colleague's condition, so the doctor and treatment that works for a woman on EW may not necessarily work for you. edited by Monkey Face on 12/04/2012
