Lifetime ban for Hep B carriers?

We just employed a lovely person who unfortunately was diagnosed with Hep B. She had only 7 days to leave the country and was asked to do an eye scan at the Al Muhasainah medical centre. Is it true that once they asked you to have an eye scan and you have Hep B you get a lifetime ban? If yes, is there any way to lift the ban once she recovers?

well since it is only the expat residents who get tested, that leaves a lot out there (Nationals and tourists and visa hoppers)

When i was a teenager i had the BSG (is that right) jab. When i was in Saudi we got tested yearly for TB, not an xray but a needle prick on the arm - the second year i was there it came back positive, ie, i had been exposed to TB - i just had to take 6 months of meds. Not sure if i was exposed or not, or whether it was something to do with the BSG jab.

I know of an expat who had a culture come back saying positive for TB, is being treated for it and has renewed visa with no issue as was not picked up on x ray. Go figure.

;-) Really glad it worked out for them. It was last spring/summer so maybe at the time the rules changed?

Sorry I was trying not to specify if the peron was male or female as I know mutual friends read the forum. However to clarify I know both husband and wife as a couple. Thanks for clarifying.

How could you know both husband and wife if it was "a friend of a friend"?

"A friend of a friend" was diagnosed with hep B, contracted whilst they were in the UAE, how? Unknown as this person was actually renewing their visa. however with some cash distribution aall was well but it was very scary as they had homes, jobs, family here. I totally believe knowing both husband and wife that there was no "extra curricula" affairs.

Good news. I employed someone in April. Results came in in May and he was deported. I will have to see if we can get him back. Thanks Izzy :)

I don't believe there is a cure for Hep B. [i'>The UAE currently requires expatriates to be tested for HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis (TB) and Hepatitis B. If your test results are positive, you will be deported. There is no appeal system against this process.[/i'> http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/travel-and-living-abroad/travel-advice-by-country/middle-east-north-africa/united-arab-emirates

Are you sure it wasn't Hep C? I understood that Hep B was no longer a banned disease. Could be wrong thou. There is no cure for Hep C.
