We both saw a GP first but I only ever had one referral and that's when I was working for Emirates so I needed that in order to be covered under their insurance. DH saw the GP at City who then referred him internally, and then for my second op I went straight to Dr Al Shunnar without a referral. ETA: I think I probably just confused you. What I meant to say was no, you don't need a referral! :D <em>edited by DubaiCat on 16/01/2011</em>

Try Dr Maarten at Dubai Bone and Joint in Healthcare City. After years of pain he did microsurgery on my lower back a couple of years ago. Had discs pressing on the nerve and was unable to move before the surgery. All fine now. He is Dutch and trained in Holland.
