Hi, I am taking Lyrica 75mg daily for pain related to my MS. Does anyone know the guide lines or whom to contact regarding travel whilst taking Lyrica as it is now a semi-controlled tablet. Pharmacy hasn't really been much help. Thank you.

This is an old thread but thought I'd add my experience with lyrica and breast feeding. I was on lyrica whilst pregnant. When baby was born I started breast feeding on day 1. By day 2 baby developed the shakes. After paediatrician examined the baby, they confirmed it was as a result of the lyrica coming across in the breast milk. Was advised (TOLD) to discontinue breast feeding. Child is 3.5 now and thriving.

I will do, I have looked up the doctor's profile, so will try & see her very soon. This is the first I knew that there was a lady Neurologist in Dubai. Same with Urologists I don't think there are any.

You can try Dr suzan at dubai mall clinic. Also for those using lyrica, did you happen to use it while BF a baby? Was it okay on their stomacb etc and general well being?

Any recommendations for a Neurologist, it seems there are so many in Dubai. I'm not too happy with how things are going with the present specialist. Are there any female Neurologists. Thank you.

Maybe the drug dosage is too much for the your actual pain level if it has such terrible side affects as spinning heads etc. I have had no side affects whatsoever, and infact, have lost weight due mainly, I am sure, to a renewed "pain-free" life. I guess dosage is important to get right. You have to find a doctor whom you can trust - often difficult here.

Good idea to take the tablet at night, problem is I don't get any pain in the night even before I began any medication, maybe because the muscles are relaxed. Once I am up in the mornings the pain starts, but maybe I will chat with the Neuro & see what he has to say, I think it would be worth a try at night.

My Orthopedic Surgeon advised to take the drug only when going to bed as it does generally make people a bit drowsy. So, I do only take it at night. Maybe you should discuss the dizziness with your doctor and perhaps he might advise the same routine. Before Lyrica, I was taking a different drug - one morning and one night. It totally knocked me out - it did manage the pain but after taking it in the morning, I could hardly drive to work as my eyes would be shutting and for the first 90 minutes of the working day, I was useless - eyes closing without control. Lyrica is just as successful with only one dose a day. If it helps me fall asleep quickly, all the better!!!

AmyAus82 : Thank you, yes, I agree it would be best to keep the prescription when travelling, I will also get a letter from my Neuro prior to my travel. Thank you so much for the telephone number of the Dubai Customs incase that I may need it. gusncoley : I have had no weight gain with Lyrica 75mg. Not sure if it would at a higher dose. I also tried Diclofenec but it didn't help me at all with the neuropathic pain. mrsb : Thank you for your information, I don't seem to have side effects either, sometimes a little bit dizzy to begin with, but it wears off very quickly. I will also give the UK Consulate for their information just incase I need anything further.

I also take Lyrica everyday for back pain 75mg daily. I have travelled easily with - to Australia, UK, other Gulf countries, and Pakistan. For me it is a miracle drug and given me back a painfree and carefree life - no side affects at all, thank god. If you are travelling abroad, I suggest you contact the consulate of your distinction country and ask the question and, if need be, get a letter from your doctor confirming your need, prescribed dosage etc. I never travel anywhere without a doctors letter explaining my medication - especially Australia, which can be very difficult at times. Definitely NO weight gain. Infant, I think I have lost weight due to the fact tht I am really mobile again, running around doing things. edited by mrsb. on 13/02/2013

I have question about Lyrica. I was prescribed this medication last week after being diagnosed with fibromyalgia and an undiagnosed Inflammatory Arthritis. I did not even fill the prescription as of yet because I am afraid of the possible weight gain. Did either of you ladies have issues with gaining weight on this med? I am currently getting some pain relief with diclofenec, but it is not enough for me to function fairly for my 3 kids and DH!
