Mashreq bank vs other local banks

Does anyone have any experience with Mashreq Bank(good/bad/ugly)? Husband has been offered a gold account free of charge, with credit card, and they're willing to do that before our residency visas have been processed. Should we snap up the offer, or are other local banks better in any way (I only know of Emirates NBD and CBD)?

TIA

Very bad experience with cancelling my credit card with Mashreq Bank. First I cleared all my balances and been 3days since I paid. Then, they ask me to pay interest (which I don’t know for) of 259 AED but I paid them because I want to get rid of my credit card. Then, after a week they requesting me to pay 3 AED for sales something (that I really don’t know for) which I don’t understand for what reasons. Hopefully, people will learn from my experience.

Mashreq is the bank with the worst customer services I’ve ever experienced. Had to wait over two hours before I finally could give a copy of the updated trade license, which was not possible to upload via their online banking system. Will definitely switch to another business bank shortly.

i think anyone can have a bad experience with a bank. I have been with NBD for years and i find them outstanding. At the end of the day the banks are all competing for business so they will go that extra mile to retain customers and keep them happy. RAK is also great. But NBD is fab. I recently had some suspicious activity on my credit card. I was called immediately at 11.30 pm. I verified that I had not used the card. They blocked it and sent me a replacement within 48 hrs. The matter is under dispute but they have told me that it will be done in about 30 days (it takes that long because its an international transaction and the amount has to go to the Central Bank before its routed back to me. In the meantime they call me to keep me in the loop. For internet transactions they have a double secure password. They have ATMs all over the place. I am happy with them.

I am with Mashreq and I have to say that I find them brilliant. Their customer service has always been great for me. Always willing to help. However I do not like that you have to have a minimum amount of money is your accounts at all time or you get fined 25 AED per month. However, other than this, so far I have found them great.

Mashreq is generally very good. But I had a bad experience with them on credit card which is still unresolved. They are somehow finding some reason to bill me on a closed card 2 years back. Called the bank to resolve the matter but despite repeat calls, months keep rolling up. It may be just one off situation but Mashreq is No No for me.

Dont know about Mashraq but NEVER EVER go for Emirates NBD. They are worst in customer services.

We are with Mashreq and they have been great. My DH has something similar - gold/platinum etc - and we don't pay fees on anything, even international transfers. Can use any ATM; so far so good; and nil issues.
