My husband is currently working in Dubai & I'm plan on moving out next month with my 8 month old little boy but we are struggling to find a 3 bed villa at the springs with a full lake view in Springs 1 or 2. We have been told that Springs 1 or 2 would be walking distance to Spinneys, shops etc as I'm a bit nervous about driving to start with so really want to be walking distance to things. Could anyone let me know if any of the other Springs areas would be suitable? What is it like living in the Springs? What the going price is for a 3 bed with a lake view? Also is Springs 1 & 2 more expensive than other Springs? Any information would be much appreciated! Thankyou :-)

We are in Springs 15, directly on the lake in a 2 bed. Wouldn't live on the park/pool purely for the noise of the school kids who descend around 3pm. Some lake villa's have people looking in on them as they take a walk round the lake but if this doesn't bother you they have the nicest veiws. Sp 15 has 2 pools and is half way between each exit,meaning 19 speed bumps to SHZ and 5 to Khail rd. Spinneys town centre is a 15min walk in winter and impossible in summer. AS for the mossies, not really much of a problem even on the lake front.

We are in Springs 11 and quite happy about it. Keep in mind that some Springs does not have community pools and some have more than one. (I think SPR3 does not have! Do not believe real estate ppl, usually they don't know either...) Luckily we have 2 pools and 1 park w/out pool... Not bad! :) If i were you I think twice about having a house by lake, personally I prefer to live in a house by park or pool. good luck!

In my opinion having lived there for a few years from the beginning springs 2 and 1 still desirable and away enough from roads construction but be aware of maintenance as the vilas are now falling apart make sure u get a vila maintenance contract before signing lease.

Sorry to jump to the discussion but do people drive very bad there? I've lived for 6 years in Cairo and driving is crazy here! but I managed to drive after all so I guess it should not be so difficult to drive over there, at least I hope! :) and as I am also looking in Springs, do these lakes bring mosquito and fly in the hot season to the villas? xxx I personally think the driving is worse in Athens than here. The biiig difference, for me, is all the huge trucks there are here - once you get used to that, I should think, from what I've heard of driving in Cairo, you'd be fine here! Sorry, no idea about mossies and lakes in Springs, we're quite near a lake here and suffered from a few in December.

I think your all right about the driving, just need to do it!! arghh I'm sure it will be fine :-) Honestly Rach, I am a country girl and don't even do motorway driving at home, had never driven abroad and hadn't driven an automatic before - if I could cope, you can. Best advice I can give you is to get a map of Dubai and start learning the names of the areas - at least that way if you get lost you will recognise the names on the signs and can head in the general direction, it saves having to stop and look at a map evry 5 minutes. Its really not that bad once you get out there. Driving within the springs especially is pretty easy... You do get mosquitos but they're not that bad... I think the bigger lakes have less mosquitos vs the smaller lakes, but I haven't actually lived right on the lake so don't know for sure...

If you do find a place in Springs and start driving, bear in mind that to get home, you must always go south on the Sheikh Zayed Road (SZR) and then follow the signs for the Hills (Emirates) and otherwise, always aim in the direction of Jebel Ali/Abu Dhabi until you see signs for Lakes/Springs/Meadows. Since I drummed this into my head, I've had far fewer panics when otherwise completely lost :)

I wouldnt bother with anything other than Springs 1, 2 or 3 even if more expensive, its such a hassle going over the 2349782589 speed bumps and through all of the construction. Springs 12 and other clusters near the back of Springs area are quite nice, but to me not worth the hassle of getting to them.

We live in Springs 3 and really like it. It's within walking distance of Spinney's and this is so much easier now they have opened the other entrance! There's a lovely network of lakes which is great for the children and quite picturesque. We're paying 120 in 3 cheques for a 3E. I think that most properties with a lake view are type 2 or 1 which are larger 3/4 beds which come with maids room & family room. Have you been introduced to dubizzle - it's the best place to search for property. Good luck with finding somewhere and your move. :)

Hi, Rach! Welcome to Dubai! Just to add, Jill is absolutely right, it's much better if you start driving the minute you get here so you don't have time to think about what you're doing. If at all possible, get one of the bigger cars as you will feel safer in it :) I'm sorry, I can't advise on Springs as it all became a blur when we were looking round there and many of the places with lake views we saw were in a dreadful state of repair. There are quite a few for sale in Springs 14 at the mo, that I can tell you - but OTOH, the community pool has been out of action for months..

Adviceseeker is correct in what she says. Yes Springs 1&2 do tend to be a bit more pricey. I used to live in Springs 6 and loved it - the supermarket at that end is small but you can get most stuff there. Come the summer you won't want to walk to the shops though as it's so hot during the day - bite the bullet and start driving as soon as possible, thinking about it is worse than doing doing it - I speak from experience. I tarted slowly just pottering around in Springs, then off to Mall of the Emirates at quiet periods, then onto SZR. Having said that I did have a baptism of fire the first week I drove and ended up on SZR by mistake - but it was probably a good thing as I just had to cope. Good luck in your villa search.
