1 teacher and 1 teaching assistant. For that age, ofsted rules are 1:6. For my 8 month old it's 1:2. They will also have extra floating helpers around for meal times and big nappy change times.

Guiness - it clearly is open as my son is there as we type!!! As I said it is not a big nursery, my son is 28 months, and there are 9 in his class up to a max of 12. I like that a lot!! 12 children to how many teachers/assistants ?

DH says he went there (to building blocks) and there wasn't anyone there - except a mother and her young daughter. The mother said she was told it would be open on January 5th, but it clearly wasn't. Does anyone know when Emirates British will open? Are you sure he went to the right place? It was open from yesterday, and there are a fair few kids in my friends class already. They still have a bit of ordering to do, but by and large they're open for business :D

Thanks ladies. I'm going to look at Building Blocks next week... so much closer than her current nursery in Jumeirah. Needs to be British Curriculum one so BB looks good for us... thanks

We have just moved our 2 ds there from step by step, ds1 starts today and ds2 who is 8 months starts Sunday. They still have a bit of work to finish off, but I think it will be a lovely small nursery which I prefer. Small class sizes and ofsted ratios for teacher/child ratios. They are currently looking for a suitable chef in order to provide food, and they are aiming to build a proper outside area over the summer months. All staff are qualified early years teachers, and all seem to have the right attitude. Secure entry system etc, all day all year cover as well for working mums, with afternoons part of the enrichment centre which also sounds very interesting. So fingers crossed we made the right decision!!

03/01/2011 19:55:15• quote Claire08 Posts 558 I live in AR and my daughter goes to Step by Step at the Layan Community, just 5 min drive. There is a new nursery open in motor city now called building blocks so worth checking that out too.

My husband is supposed to be going to check it out this morning - the one in the big building on the left as you head towards Sports City. If he doesn't divert to Starbuck's, I'll let you know what he finds out.

Emirates British Nursery is opening in Motor City soon. My DD is at the Mirdif branch and we are all very happy with it. Call them on 04 288 9222 and I am sure they will give you more details. The website is http://www.emiratesbritishnursery.com/
