I have just come back from Dragon mart, Ace and the Outlet Mall and couldnt find anything decent and what was there was SO expensive.
Just looking for table with 8 seats and a little matching sofa set - brown probably. Plastic Rattan material...but it is SO expensive. I cant believe we're looking at paying at least 8,000 AED for what really is a bit of plastic. The only sets I could find were in brown and black combined which werent nice.

It's really not easy! Also in need of loads of pot plants too - I think I really need someone with a decent garden to be leaving Dubai and wanting to sell their stuff otherwise Im looking at paying out a fortune! What did everyone else do?

We bought a wood 6 seater/round table at Home Center 7 years ago and it is still hanging in there. We oil it 2x a year and it looks great....we could actually do it 3x but we are lazy. Friends have the exact set and it looks terrible because of non oil, so, you do have to care for it. The cusions have faded, dont look great. Will replace in the Fall :) Look on Dubizzle in the gardening section, also on here in the classified. You can now buy furniture covers at ACE I believe. You can order them online though or have a tailor whip you up some. edited by SueB on 13/01/2011

with the sun and the dust it will get ruined so easily so DONT buy anything expensive. it's a total rip off... I agree and you get fed up taking the cushions off despite the best intentions so they get bleached by the sun.

I bought mine in the HomeCentre the price was reduced by 25% as I paid with the credit card and they had promotion they. I bought there 8 seat square table with chairs and glass surface for 2250 AED and in Dragonmart I bought small table and sofa and twoarmchairs for 1700 AED (it was the last piece 1000 AED chepear than before). So I had full set for 4000AED, I think it was a good deal. But it took me couple of weeks to find what I wanted.

omg - i had exactly the same problem. I didnt mind spending a reasonable amount for a decent sofa..but not a piece of plastic!" In the end we got a really nice L shaped sofa from pottery barn in mirdif mall. have a look on their online brochure as they have a few nice outdoor bits www.potterybarn.me - or similar

The Plant Market near Academic City is not expensive and they will haggle. They only do plants & pots not furniture. edited by MirdifIngrid on 13/01/2011

Home Centre has good value garden furniture but I have heard it does not last as long as the expensive stuff.

I have a table and six chairs with parasol from Hyperpanda. Can't remember how much I paid but not too expensive in comparison to other prices. I also like the rattan sofa sets but like you think they are just far too expensive to buy. If you live near Jumeriah there is a great plant place behind Spinneys. :)
