Yesterday afternoon we decided to make a tour in Palm Jumeirah, and then our plan was to go to Rixos Hotel for Turkish restaurant.
Impossible!
Long long queues, with Police, security... too many drivers very upset to spend week end time in the traffic queue, then after queuing more than 30 minutes , at Atlantis r/a we have decided to go back and leave that area.
But who said that Palm area is like Paradise? This is a really ****!
How can tourists go and stay in these Hotels where there are constantly constructions' noise even early morning and even during week end days???
Long lines of workers' buses...trucks offloading materials 24 hours a day and blocking roads, construction sites everywhere.... absolutely not enough roads and they are still going on with new constructions, new hotels, new residences, new resorts....!
You can ONLY imagine there is sea...you can only suppose to be in artificial island.......the Seaview is totally blocked unless you go in the Crescents and look one side of the road!
This was supposed to be "exclusive' area, with very expensive houses, but is this that what people get in return after paying lots of money ???
Of course the developer cannot make everybody happy...but why making happy only and always the developer? what about the people who spent own money , big quantity of money, to buy properties in this area with the hope to stay in wonderful and peaceful island?

This WAS a beautiful manmade island....but this is now a manmade ****, and it is worse day by day
It's better to prepare for the worst...when they will open all new hotels, shopping mall and so on...

If you're complaining about the Palm don't ever visit the Marina/JBR between the hours of 7-9am and 5-8pm, or on a Thursday!!

I am not even living on the Palm, but I know there are certain times you are not supposed to use your car in certain areas of Dubai. Thursday night, JBR and most parts of the Marina is a big no, Downtown Dubai after 6 pm most evenings...and the list goes on. If one bad experience in one place put you off going there ever, you might as well make your garden or balcony comfortable.

Agree wholeheartedly with the other Palm Dwellers. I live opposite the new mall site at Oceana and have only noticed a slight increase in traffic congestion at the weekends. Incidentally just near there is a pedestrian crossing and this does impact traffic flow when being utilised. We have always allowed ourselves 25 minutes to go to the crescent from where we are on the Palm, you have to remember just like you many venture out to 'tour' the Palm at the weekends and most just park up and take lots of photos opposite Atlantis;)c and sit on the wall!& We never encounter traffic problems and it's a small price to pay for a Mall on my doorstep so I'm happy as Larry?

Hi Roxan, Give it another chance. :) We're even living very close to where the new shopping mall construction is, passing by it min twice every single day for over 1,5 yrs now, don't remember a day that I thought the way you do. It must've been one of those unlucky days that happens to us all time to time.

I go to the Palm a few times a week and it's rarely any traffic issues, unless it's an event in Atlantis or something similar, certainly no worse than most parts of Dubai. Construction everywhere in Dubai as well...

Hi Roxan51 - It sounds as though you were very unlucky yesterday on your visit to The Palm, it isn't always like that. We have been living on The Palm for 7 years now, and yes, the traffic has increased a little, particularly over the weekends, but generally there are no problems with traffic at all and even at 'bad points' it is usually only a small bottleneck around where they are building the new Mall. I suspect when all is up and running there will be some road changes to accommodate the increasing traffic. We enjoy the peace of the island and being able to walk around the beaches and surrounding area, so for us it is a wonderful, peaceful island with more facilities arriving every day. It is a shame you had a bad day but I can assure you that living here on a daily basis has been, and is, lovely. Hope you have a better experience next time, please don't let one day put you off.
