Hi SB, I was thinking more along the lines of what would YOU accept. Not what are people offering. If that makes sense? For example, if I have 4 hours in the day free while the kids are at school, how much would it be worth it to take on a part time job? if you have 4 hours free you can finish the till receipt spreadsheets !!! lol - wb :)

The answer for me would still be the same whichever way I look at it....iyswim...but that answer is for me, I would expect to be offered and would only accept the Market rate.

It depends on what you want to do, your qualifications etc but as a general rule (very general) I would say part time work will earn you between AED2,000 - AED 4,000 per month Is that even enough to cover expenses, like petrol and clothing???

When we have done part time roles in the past for an admin person working 30 hours a week the salary has been around 7-8000AED per month. They are the only roles i know of sorry :-)

A lot of pt jobs don't seem to have salaries related to full time work rates I think that in this region that there is a view of pt jobs similar to the 1950s western view ie that they are "women's" work for housewives to earn a little "pin/pocket" money while hubby is the "real" bread winner I have read examples on here of TAs/shadows/nursery assistants being paid aroun 3500-5500dhs/month for school hours depending on qualifications (and nationality) - but probably half that it you only work mornings etc edited by Puffinlunde on 23/02/2012

A good point of reference would be the Market rate for the full time salary prorated by the number of hours worked per week compared to the ft job.

I was just wondering, I've read a couple threads about part time jobs and was wondering what salary you would accept for a part time job? I remember one poster saying she did part time TA work at her child's school for some "pocket money" but what may be pocket money to her might be a lot/not worth it to another? I don't think I've ever had a part time job and no job in this region ever...so I have no point of reference. (I think this is a solid Thursday afternoon thread by the way. Don't let me down ladies. :D )
