Dr Yuliya - at the Femiclinic. Have had two very smooth deliveries with her - one at Medcare and one at City.

Ended up arguing with her as she was determined that I had high blood pressure of which I don't . That made me chuckle! During labour I'd take anyone who knew the first thing about midwifery - even the fireman! Same theory if I needed surgery or was in pelvis bursting pain (well, maybe not the fireman then). But even forgetting my experiences with that creepy male gynecologist I don't believe it childish a woman wanting to take an active decision to keep herself (or her daughters) as safe as possible. If it's just a check up I'd happily wait a week or 2 to see a woman I know is capable and who I get on with - but then equally I'd not downvote any woman happy to take the risk by wanting to have a male gyno fiddling with her bits, it's her body - her choice. edited by SussxSally on 02/04/2014 edited by SussxSally on 02/04/2014 edited by SussxSally on 02/04/2014

Dr Ibrahim at city hospital he is amazing and so calm and reassuring ... would never have considered a male gynae before but have been with him for some 3 years now and would never go to anyone else ..... I wonder why my recommendation for Dr Ibrahim has so many dislikes but others for him don't I find that very strange everyone who has disliked this post ..... he is an amazing doctor and I have been through some tough times with him .. Each to their own ........... Lakes Lucy, I am using dr Ibrahim to have my first baby ... He is the most chilled out doc I have ever meet... He was highly recommended to me through a friend. I think the people that dislike your post haven't meet him or are really scared of seeing a male gynie.... And need to grow up. One I would avoid is dr lutha at Medcare .. Ended up arguing with her as she was determined that I had high blood pressure of which I don't .

Gosh - if there was one thing I never expected to find in the UAE would be a male gynecologist! It's bad enough being given them back home... Mine in the UK was an Arab guy. Due to problems I saw a lot of gynaes and he was amazing. Much better and nicer than some of the ladies I saw :-) The only female gynaes I ever encountered were absolutely heartless cows. I only once had a bad male doc who was one of the old old school (patronising misogynist but it was in the late 60's) ..all the rest have remarkably respectful and very empathetic. I suspect they had good mothers!! Mine was absolutely lovely and I'm probably going to just get the checkups done with her when I go back rather than find another here! Guess with all doctors it's luck of the draw - though after being propositioned by that pervert who just saw me as some piece of meat while he was stroking my breasts I don't think I'll ever take the risk with a male gyno again... Even if it he was just a bad apple to think how many women probably still go to him for health checks - it's impossible not to question the motivations behind him (and all other man) deciding to become gynecologists!

Gender never used to bother me either Lucy, until my first gynecologist back home (who I'd been seeing for 5 years and thought was a great professional doctor) mid-exam told me how he always thought I had a 'fantastic body with wonderfully firm breasts' - I decided from then unless I'm giving birth, men are going to have to at a minimum take me for dinner before they get access to my lady parts! - and men who decide to become gynecologists I'll avoid at all costs! edited by SussxSally on 31/03/2014

I guess whatever your preferences are ladies - personally I'm definitely not a male gynecologist type of girl, can't quite get over the creepiness of it! Hope your problems are sorted though Sarah.
