If you had to choose between Horizon International Um Al Sheif and Gems Metropole which one would it be? This will be for Year 1.

We are already in Metropole in FS2.

I understand both the schools are UK curriculum. I am only looking on reviews about teachers, their experience ,class size, importance given to sports etc

TIA

Hello. My daughter goes to Horizon International. I cant compare it to GEMS but I can give you a quick rundown. 22-24 kids a class. Classes up to Yr. 2 have dedicated TA's along with the teacher. I really like the environment for my kid and for myself. Most of the mums I have met are really nice and down to earth. I am not unhappy with my daughters academic progress. I come from the ICSE system so the topic based learning in UK PYP is a little loosey goosey for me but my daughter is thriving. She is not sporty at all unfortunately but there are loads of sport options in the school. Fantastic extracurricular program. The kids are offered internal activities that are taught by the teachers and are FREE! Her FS2 teacher was AMAZING. Her Yr. 1 teacher might not be as lovey dovey but its clear that she knows my child and her progress and she has 18 solid years of teaching experience. There are things the school can do better, but overall, I think its a pretty good school. I like that its small and the environment is quite nurturing. Hope this helps.

Foundation and primary is good I have no experience of secondary. Lots of importance given to sports as the current principal use to be the head of PE department before. Teachers are qualified, good and all are British (if that is important to you). If you have the offer from there you should accept it. Personally I would chose ANY school over a gems school but that's just me.
