Hi Ladies,

I know this is a maid question but I tried on the maids forum and didn't get any reply...

my husband is about to set up his own company and we would like to keep our maid (that has been sponsored while my husband was an employee).
my question is : how can you sponsor a maid if you are not an employee as you need to provide a salary certificate and a certain level of salary ?
any experience ?

thanks !

@halfmoon thanks ! @crystalsindubai : no the goal is just to keep employing a maid legally. And I was wondering how to do this as you are supposed to provide the Immigration with your salary certificate and so on...but Halfmoon gave me the answer, my husband won't need one in this case...

Kikidubai, my apologies, I seem to have misunderstood your question. My answer only applies if you wish to keep your maid but want to change it into a company's visa.

Hi, if you like to keep the maid in your husband sponorship, then no need to do anything, as she is already in your husband visa, she can continue with that. when the renewal comes, you can submit the trade licence with your husband name in it, which states he is an investor, then u can renew her visa without salary certificate.

... and best not mention your intention to change her status...

Has she been thru an iris scan previously as she entered on a "domestic" visa"? And what about her qualifications, wh? All will be considered when new application for company visa is submitted. Best find out about visa requirements for "clerks" or such from Immigration as they do have minimum qualification requirements for all company positions.

:( oh no ! and what if we cancel her current visa, send her back home for the summer (as it is planned) and get her back here with a tourist visa. Then wouldn't it be easier to change from the tourist visa to the company visa ?

You will be lucky if you can change a "domestic' visa to a "company" visa in Dubai. Usually, that change is not appraoved. Also to consider is that, as an employee, your maid is entitled to indemnity to be paid at the end of employement (on basic salary) whilst as a "domestic" this is at your discretion.

Yes you can do it but beaware that different emirates have different costs and rules for maid sponsorship, i know friends who have set up companies in RAK and had real problems with maid sponsorhip in Dubai. If you set up in a Free zone with in Dubai it gives you a number of visas and you can sponsor a maid.
