Hi there. Can anyone recommend a company (or individual) that is knowledgeable on Sri Lankan property law and very good at speaking English? Either here or in Sri Lanka? If you do, could you please email me details at healthylittlecreatures at gmail dot com. Or post on here if that is allowed. Thank you :)

Take a look at Legal500 site - for Sri Lanka. It list lawyers for all over the world. It also comments about the current situation there regarding expats and property.

Hi. I know this is an old thread, but wondered if you got a good property lawyer in Sri Lanka. We're now looking at buying land in Galle area, so will need a good lawyer.

Be very careful buying in Sri Lanka , I heard that they changed the law on buying property and land in January and expats can no longer buy freehold only citizens . Try www.ashkars.lk , this is an agent in Galle , Sri Lankan but grew up in UK he seems to know all the laws.

I don't know of a property lawyer but would like to warn you about buying property in SL, if that is what you are going to do. This applies especially if you are not in the country and trying to get a house built and the like.
