i just moved my 2 Ds from there to Building Blocks in Motor City. They were happy though at Step by Step, we decided to move them for 2 main reasons - 1. class sizes and child/teacher ratios - classes too big and not enough staff to children, and 2nd, we need a true all year all day facility which this is not. Step by Step's new director Helen is superb though, and if she is given enough leeway will do a great job. Building Blocks has much smaller classes with lower ratios, and has a great enrichment centre for all day children....the only thing missing is a big outdoor play area which is scheduled to be built over the summer.
So to answer your post, I would go and see both and see what you think.
These posts always catch my interest.... there is actually a law/standard with regards to the child adult ratio in a nursery or pre school setting( depending on age), Im just wondering if it is actually 'real' out here, I know in the UK & other European countries that it is a standard that must be honoured. I just see way too many posts where people comment on this topic so its got me wondering.......Sorry to the OP, dosent help you at all, Im just curious! :)
I don't think there is any law about that here. If there is, it is definitely not enforced.
I love it and always want to play in the outdoor area too when I drop of my son ;-). Honestly I like the staff, my son settled in very well. Think there are too many kids too, but it doesn`t seem to bother my son.
The change of management was very smooth by the way, no disruptions and i don't have any issue with the ratios of children tonstaff. All the staff are very caring and there is a lovely vibe there.
Thanks Ceese for clarifying, just got me thinking that's all. After hearing that there had been a Management/Staff shift I just read your post and thought "huh?!

ceese what do you mean by you wish they hadn't closed at the drop of a hat? Has Step By Step closed? I had recently heard that it's under new management/staff etc....

My son had his first day today since we were on holidays. The staff seem very nice. Its in the Laylan community which is one of the new communities behind AR towards 611,
