I notice a lot of ex-Dubaiers staying on EW, some to offer advice, others to join in the heated debates, and it leaves me wondering what sort of life they moved to. I always imagine moving to be oh so time consuming etc...perhaps life away from Dubai is too boring so they come on EW, or maybe it is the addiction. Just curious to know....it is nice to hear how those who moved got on with everything, but some seem to still be here, a lot! If you knew how cr@p the telly is here in Cyprus, you understand the enduring attraction of EW. And of course, there are your posts VP! Can't be you LT, unless you are secretly from (not sure if i can write it again) Scunthorpe! lol - i was on a forum years ago with a profanity filter that showed it as Stoasthorpe lol

lets face it, those hangers-on are not addicted to EW, but Dubai. We know the truth, and that is it. Is that the joke of the day?

I think it may be part of the transition process after leaving Dubai. For many of us EW is an important part of coping in the UAE and while we may have physically moved on the emotional connection especially with the stories of favourite posters may remain. It naturally peters off after a while until the need to check in is no longer there. That said I have to admit the final few month of a certain poster constantly reminding us that she was leaving and how much better it was going to be started to p me off. When she left I breathed a sigh of relief but alas she is back, not adding value, but giving us details of her life at home and still bitching about life in the ME. I just wish she would get a life or at least get over it. I concur with every word written CT :D Why? why not? self explanatory surely.

I like hearing from the ex-Dubaites (?) who pop in from time to time with a comment. I think it probably proves that EW is an addiction, albeit a relatively harmless one :) And I do wonder about people who ask all those questions and are making preparations to move to Dubai, and then are never heard from again. I presume some of them never made it and others are too busy living their lives to come back to EW. I don't see why that should stop people on EW from answering potential incomers' questions, though? I am not advising everyone to not answer, just saying, I don't.

Yeah, tbh, I never answer posters unless they have actually arrived *in* Dubai ... too many people and their wishful thinking. That's a bit harsh isn't it ? who knows why people don't continue with their plans..EW is an information board for anyone who can use the intenet - not a private members' club... Not harsh at all. I just know how plans fall through a lot and I don't bother answering people who are "planning" to move to Dubai in a few months ... Lucky not everyone here thinks like this then...i had loads of useful info and support before we came which was a big help.

they will all be on here in a few hours defending their positions on this forum!!! Only Green-ish will be spared by me. what about the other posters who are moving here? i want a pony something? all that effing hassle about schools and location and single car family (this is DUBAI, ha ha ha) and she never arrived after all that. ALL that. edited by vero possumus on 05/04/2011 Yes that was wierd but may be it just didn't work out? Can't say i ever bother to post when i'm away, to busy stuffing my face with great food and shopping. I think she decided to wait until the new school year...but if she thinks some of the posters here are typical of the people in Dubai then she may well have changed her mind LOL
